Stance width too wide?
Hi all, I suffer from one sided hip impingement. Other than shortening the cranks even more (currently 165mm), 1. Would a wider pedal (SQLabs MTB pedals in 61mm) work? 2. Also is there such a thing as having a spindle length too long? 3. Would 61mm would cause knee issues if it's too wide? 78kg 5'10" avg to slim build.

Yep, i also had a bike fit awhile ago from Dan and he suggested down to 155mm for me... One day I'll need to go there. Getting a hold of short ones wasn't easy though. But I do see Dan has semi adjustable ones in his shop now. 165mm feel ok and shifting the cleats inwards does help so thought a wider stance would suit as an interim fix. Just wondered if going too wide had any adverse effects especially on the knees

Thanks Scott, yes. I suspect there is a definite rotation as one leg does feel longer but there doesn't seem to be a leg length difference from what the bike assessment found. There is some mild arthritis in the hip, I think partly caused by an old injury, and I'm sure the muscles atrophied and never really held in it place after that. Have been doing a lot of core, hip, glute classes at the gym and did feel a real difference. Just still not quite right. Probably need some focused work, so worth a physio visit with more analysis. Definitely good to hear specific work on it can help.
