@Danny Bryant I think Dan scheduled it for tomorrow morning?
Book about my old club
This book was written about the club I rode with for 8 years. Daniel Wolf originally wrote the book as his Masters thesis in Sociology, and then his PhD thesis, and finally turned it into a a book. It's called: "The Rebels: a Brotherhood of Outlaws".

Even the best fails sometimes 😅
So I went to a great evening with one of my most favorite bands of all times (which their lead guitarist, which is also my biggest idol since i was a teen,is also a very good friend of mine, but that’s a story for other time 😁) and had an excellent time with them. Now at this point you may wonder - how is it even remotely related to motorcycles, and especially to fails (as the header says). So - once I’ve packed myself, I went to my motorcycle which was parked right near the entrance, geared up, hoped on, put it in gear, and…. Front wheel jammed, making me lose balance and slowly dropping the motorcycle on its side 🤦🏻‍♂️ In hindsight - I forgot I’ve added the disc lock on the right side (which was closer to the wall I’ve parked near) and it did what it supposed to do - lock the front brake… Fortunately I have crash bars so no damage at all to anything, and I was still on 0 kph, but my inflating jacket did went off, so goodbye 64$ for new gas cartridge for it 🥴 Note to self: always put the disc lock on the more visible side to the eyes…

@Suja Khan I know, because I had to replace both front rotors. It ended up being a blessing because the rotors I replaced the bent ones with were far superior, and cut my stopping distance by 50%.

Riding SMART Chapter 1: What Did You Get Wrong?
Five gear items. Non-negotiable before the motorcycle moves. Swipe through the breakdown — then tell me in the comments: Which one did you skip when you started?

Well, it was over 50 years ago since I first started riding, so I can't remember all the things listed that I didn't follow. Probably number 1 was the beanie helmet, fingerless gloves, and zero protective clothing beyond jeans. I even was dumb enough to ride most of a summer without a helmet when the helmet laws were briefly discontinued. If I could go back in time and slap myself, I would.

Crossing the Rubicon
I just got my signed, numbered, and notarized copy of George Christie's new book, crossing the Rubicon. It even came with a challenge coin. I was thinking about what Dan said about challenge coins, so I looked up the cost, and it's not that bad. Maybe some coins could be designed and made for the "safe riders crew"? Similar to the one George gave out with his book?

@Daniel Tolomei He's very articulate and a great story teller. He's a true example of an honorable biker. Check out his podcast, he usually does 2 a week. He answers questions on there and he actually reads and answers them, so if you hear him answer any questions from Hawgrider, it's me, he's answered 3 so far, lol.

@Daniel Tolomei I got the paperback copy, so I can keep the Autographed hard cover copy immaculate, and won't care if the paperback edition gets dog eared, or lent out. I did the same thing with the book written about my old club, the Rebels MC (the Alberta and Saskatchewan Rebels, not the Australian Rebels). I bought a hard cover first edition, which I keep pristine, and I bought 2 paperback copies to lend to friends. The book is called The Rebels: A brotherhood of Outlaws. By Daniel Wolf. He originally wrote it as his Sociology thesis, then published it as a book. Its an unbiased book on outlaw bikers, neither positive or negative. I'm in the second photo when our sec/treas Denis died.
