🧭 The Trip Ideas Lab — Where Our Next Trips Get Born
This is the one place in OSAT where every future trip idea lives — yours, mine, all of it, in one ongoing conversation. 🔔 Quick thing first: hit the bell on this post. That way you'll know the second someone drops a new destination or replies to yours — you don't have to keep checking back, and you'll actually see who else is dreaming about the same places you are. Here's how it works: You drop a destination you've been quietly dreaming about (or one you've already done and think the group would love), and we talk it through together. - No pressure - No commitment - No "sign up now" - No need to write a novel — one line is plenty Just: where do you want to go, and why haven't you booked it yet? The trips I end up building — New Orleans, Santa Fe, whatever comes next — all start exactly here, as a conversation in the comments before they're ever a real itinerary. If enough of us keep talking about the same place, that's usually the first sign it's worth building for real. So tell me: - What's a destination you keep coming back to in your head? - What's stopping you from booking it solo? (Cost, nervousness, no one to go with — all fair.) - Seen a destination someone else mentioned that you'd jump on too? Say so in the replies — that matters as much as a brand-new idea. Drop in for thirty seconds or stick around and reply to a few people — either one moves this forward. I read every comment here. This thread doesn't go stale — drop an idea today, next month, whenever it crosses your mind. 👇

I'm a bit of a national parks person I've been to most of them but some are still on the bucket list. Glacier National Park The redwoods in California The arches in Utah And then there's that train trip between Alberta and British Columbia
I’ve mapped out a New Orleans group trip…
and it’s coming together really well. Before I finalize it: Who would actually consider going? Think: • Small group • Relaxed pace (not overpacked) • Some structure + free time • Option for shared or private rooms Comment “NOLA” if you’d seriously consider it(or “QUESTION” if you want more details first)

@Michael Johnson That is great, I am getting old so keep it on your radar. Here is starting ideas to think about. Starting with a fly into Whitefish, a tour bus through the park with lodge stays on the way to meet the Canadian passenger train (what city to the north), then the train to Vancouver, spent time in this city, then fly home from there with all the great stops in between.

Let’s Talk About Solo Travel Fears (Real Talk)
Traveling alone sounds exciting…until you actually start thinking about it. Then the questions show up: What if I feel unsafe? What if I get lost? What if I don’t enjoy it?What if I get lonely? What if something goes wrong? Totally normal. Most people don’t struggle with where to go…They struggle with the fear before they go. And once you talk about it — it usually gets easier. So I’m curious: What’s your biggest concern about traveling solo right now? SafetyLonelinessPlanning everything yourselfLanguage barriersCostSomething else? Drop it in the comments — even if it feels small. You’ll probably find: - others feel the same - someone has already solved it - it’s more manageable than it seems Fear is usually the first step before confidence. Let’s surface it and work through it together. ===================================================== Admin keywords: solo travel fears fear of traveling alone solo travel anxiety first solo trip concerns travel safety concerns solo travel confidence overcoming travel fear solo travel mindset fear of getting lost travel fear of traveling alone female solo travel planning anxiety travel hesitation discussion first solo trip advice solo travel encouragement travel confidence building group travel vs solo travel fears travel mindset discussion travel confidence community

I'm just now traveling alone to Washington DC had a lot of issues going through my mind, am I going to miss the train and we're going to get there in time to get my Hop On Hop off bus tickets, who cares trip turned out wonderfully and there are a couple of issues, but in the end I wore my ass out and I enjoyed 90% of it. My feelings just get out there and go, time does not stop for anyone.
Curious about everyone’s travel interests right now.

If You Want to Travel but Aren’t Sure What Makes Sense Yet
For Anyone Who Wants to Travel… but Isn’t Sure What Makes Sense Yet A lot of people here are sitting in the same in-between space. You want to travel. But you’re not clear on how, where, or what actually fits right now. That doesn’t mean you’re behind. It doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It usually just means you’re trying to be thoughtful instead of impulsive. You don’t need to be ready. You don’t need a destination picked. You don’t need a timeline figured out. Most decisions don’t get clearer by thinking harder — they get clearer by having the right conversation. If you ever want help deciding, not just reading or collecting ideas, that’s what the Collective is for.
