I shoot with two three inch barred feathers and a solid white three inches feather with a 4 inch wrap and nocks. I also have some green lighted nocks for low light shoots.
Experience
For traditional deer hunting, do you guys prefer hunting a tree stand or from the ground? What is most effective?

I'm more of a fair game kind of person. Tree stands seem to me as cheating. I feel a real apex predator stalks, not ambushes. Truthfully it's more rewarding to spot and stalk for me. Tree stands provide the advantages of scent control and line of sight securing your position. Mainly scent as deer are very astute with traumatic experiences triggering there flight instincts. But also, allowing for you to be out of there usual sight range. It all depends on what you seek. The experience of being more personal or ease of bagging the trophy?

@Scott Aymond I have to admit that my luck with deer is not easy being in Florida. We have mostly flat land with lots of brush. So usually it takes days to find the best location and opportunity to get close enough for a clean shot. Hogs on the other hand are a little easier and has been most of my successful hunts. Either way, when that arrow leaves the string and I leave with food in the freezer, I'm happy. Not going to argue about tree stands, other then being cumbersome. We have a lot of oaks here, so i.just climb them. It's been some years since my last hunt, looking forward to getting back out there. Whatever you choose, do what's best for your hunting style. There's nothing wrong with using both. Happy Hunting
Arrow weight update!!!!
So to everyone who blessed me with knowledge and stories about archery, thank you. I promised an update about my arrow weight, and have one for you. Instead of buying new shafts, things aren't cheap when supporting a family, I instead bought 175 grain field points and 20 grain insert weights from Carbon Express to match my 11 grain Carbon Express inserts. When bareshafting these I noticed that my arrows had a slight downward dip right off the shelf. They actually shot true out to 20 yards but not quite sure if that dip is normal with heavy F.O.C. arrows. Granted I hadn't cut the shafts at the time. So today I had removed an inch off the shafts to bring the length down to 30.5 inches and wrapped and fletched them up. The total weight now, albeit a little shy of 10 grains per inch, is at 517 grains. To my surprise, my bow is A LOT more quiet. Thank you all again. Happy Hunting!!!

@Bryce McCormick I'll have to try that, I didn't even think about that. But one thing for sure, I have plenty of nocking points and nocking pliers to make it work. Thanks for the tip!!
Aiming with dominant eye
A general question to the group as to the belief that we should shoot with the same hand as our dominant eye, or learn to utilize an aiming technique which I should use dominate eye when shooting with my dominant hand. I can shoot ambidextrous, but am right hand dominant. I have learned over the years that my left eye is my dominant. What is your opinions here??

Sorry y'all, I meant shot, not sh**. Thumbs are a little to big sometimes!!

@Jarrod Floyd I keep both my eyes open, I feel when I'm shooting right handed that I am triangulating my aim, but left handed I'm merely lining up. It's a little difficult to explain. I know the dominant eye is used for depth perception, but I feel my right eye is there to get the rest of the picture.

To build trust in myself. Mastering a basic piece of equipment like our ancestors did, is one of the surest measures of self mastery on the road of discovery. Reliance on my own ability to provide and protect my family and friends with tools I can fashion with my own hands and the satisfaction that no matter the distance, my aim is true.

Nothing is more satisfying then to shoot barebow and be able to make the shot!!
