Productivity vs Time
How many of you work in 'normal' 9-5 working hours? Does that mean that when the clock hits 5pm your brain switches off and all creativity stops? We live in a world where productivity is defined by how much time and energy to put into something, even if it means you're burning out. This is where ADHD really shines as a super power. Many of us work in irregular times-I personally get sparks of creativity just as I start preparing for bed. Why is that? Because my brain has less pressure and distractions as the night slowly quiets. It has taken a while for me to unlearn that when these boosts of creativity hit, I must follow them. It's in fact the energy that I was pushing the whole day that now has the space to speak and be heard. Don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean getting out of bed and 'burning the midnight oil', your body and brain still need the rest. But just like Rick Rubin says, use the energy whenever it comes and follow it until you feel satisfied. You can dive into the details behind the creativity in your 'normal' work day, but don't force yourself to sleep when you're getting fuelled with great ideas before bed. There is so much more I can say on this, but let's use the comments to discuss further x

Having done it both ways, I've found that hard boundaries of no work that allow my brain/body to rest and recharge are what work best. I've found that my creativity if not the exact special idea that popped into my head will be there tomorrow. (And if not the exact special idea, there's usually another that arrives in it's place) For me, the desire to not honor rest came from trying to be productive to give myself safety, which is not aligned rn
ADHD & ME: What I Wish I Knew Sooner
When I first got my diagnosis, I thought finally having answers meant I'd instantly know how to fix everything about my work methods and mental health Spoiler Alert: I didn't. I spent MONTHS consuming every piece of ADHD content I could find. Hours a day. Reading, watching, absorbing. And you know what happened? I got really clear on theory but more confused on ME. Because here's what no one tells you at the beginning: 🍄Information without application is just noise.🍄 I kept waiting for that one perfect strategy, that magical system that would suddenly make everything click. I thought if I just learned enough, copied enough routines, I'd figure out how to make my brain cooperate. But that's not how this works. Here's what I actually needed to realize: 1. Your patterns matter more than anyone else's solutions. 🌿 What works for someone else might be completely wrong for you. I wasted so much time trying to force methods that went against how my brain actually operates. 2. Small shifts beat massive overhauls. 🌿 I kept trying to rebuild my entire life at once. Hello repeated Burnout. The real progress came from tiny adjustments that actually stuck. 3. Working WITH your brain isn't the same as accommodating dysfunction. 🌿 There's a difference between understanding your needs and making excuses. Took me way too long to figure out where that line was. (Bonus niye: I'm JUST starting to truly understand this one) 4. You can't think your way out of executive dysfunction. 🌿 Sometimes you just need to move your body first. Let the brain catch up later. (Also, a very recent realization. Huge thanks to @Rex Loyer for getting me there) 5. Community beats isolation every single time. I spent years thinking I had to figure this out alone. I was wrong. When I got the final diagnosis back in October, I came to Skool to learn more tools and tactics....what I found instead was an AMAZING community and family. To include the entirety of FF but also built a local family in @Sebastian Schroeder @Tori Cadry @Bill Widmer @Rex Loyer @Reema Rana

I woke up thinking I'm a Spoon 🥄
I'm curious how many others wake in the morning with concepts, or considerations which set up your ideas, or can dictate your day ? For example, when I woke this morning, my wife asked me if I slept well, to which I replied, "Yeah, pretty well, although I've woken up thinking about cutlery and neurodivergence" As usual, she kissed me good morning, smiled and replied, "Of course you have", but it was true. Part of the reason why I had been considering this, is that I'm often thinking about new ways to explain neurodivergence and neuroinclusivity to clients and connections. As I was lying there, I was feeling that the spoon was getting a rough deal. We often refer to laying the table as "putting the knives and forks out, but rarely does the spoon get a mention. Unlike the knife, which really only has one purpose, and whilst the fork can potentially have two to three reasons for existence, even though it does not have the uniform straightness of the other tools, the spoon can do both of their jobs, and often a lot more, therefore making it more efficient than the others. In addition to this, it's a lot more fun as it looks a little quirkier rolling around the table, you can sort of see your reflection in it like a cheap mini hall of mirrors, and unlike the other two, the best bit is that it can make other people smile when it hangs off your nose. Anyway, now you know what my wife has to deal with when things like this just pop into my head. I was just wondering if this was a common thing or just me?
