Don't Think, Feeeeel 🙏 - Demo
Fellow GuitarWavers, This community has been so wonderful, that I've been so inspired recently that I have continued writing and recording and playing around with mixing. This idea is more towards the style that I would like to explore, the spacey-vibey kind of mood - I was hoping to try and have my stuff with only guitar, but this felt like it needed some rhythm to anchor it, but've tried to 'hide' it in the mix a little so the guitars stand out more. Thanks to @Rebecca Mardal mantra (via Bruce Lee) the whole process of writing, playing and mixing I tried not to think too much, but to feeeeel.

This immediately put a smile on my face for some reason! So flowy!! This might be super out there; but in a weird way it’s almost like you can feel/hear the detachment (lack of thinking/planning for the next thing etc)? Sometimes when I listen to this type of music it feels like I’m just waiting for the next thing to happen, whereas this was one of those pieces where I didn’t care, I just enjoyed what was in the moment. Super happy to see that the Bruce Lee-wisdom is spreading. In that same clip he says ”it’s like a finger pointing to the moon; don’t look the finger, or you will miss all that heavenly glory.” And that’s what this sounded like! Not focused on the next cool thing to play, just flowing with the music in the moment.

@Freddie Webber Hahah, I totally get you! As someone who's also slowly and consistently heading towards her mid 30s, I wish I had more of that mindset; of not trying to sound cool (or use flashy voicings because I know it will sound expensive and impress guitarists etc)! Still closer to 30 as of now, so maybe that will get better in a year or so! But reading this was a good reminder to just listen, instead of pulling out every trick in the jazz voicing book 🦦

Immediate stank face! This is such a cool approach.
thoughts on community rules, podcast guests, and role of AI
good evening my friends, here are my suggestions on how to make this community a safe place for everybody: 1. I updated the community rules to “1. be nice, 2. support each other, 3. make this a safe, 4.inclusive space, relaxed energy”. 2. I recorded a new podcast episode with diEgita, which I might not release - I'm explaining why in the loom. 3. I'd love this community to be our joint effort to build a solid instrumental craft and music career, even in the age of AI. rather how we can use it as artists and less as using AI to make music quickly. let me know what you think. sending you relaxed energy 🦦

100% with you Sebastian! Being nice to people who might be different from you shouldn’t be political, that’s just being a good human being. Thank you for bringing that up! It makes me hopeful for humans, that we can create a space on our tiny corners of the internet where being nice to people is standard. I understand and respect your concerns with the podcast episode and how you might not want to release it publicly. Howeveeeer, you know that ”don’t think about a pink elephant”? Well, the podcast episode is all I can think about; super curious haha! Would it be an idea to release it on here and get everyones feedback within the community? Rant on AI = We’re already very much seen as making ”background music”. Spotify editorials is full of ghost producers who throw guitarwave music together just to fill out playlists. I respect people wanting to make a living from music, I do, but it all just seems so…soulless? Just in that these producers have no passion for the music. But hey ho, who am I to judge! I make music for Epidemic Sound, which is literally to be used for background music. But my excuse is that I have a burning passion for the music I make. So the use of AI = COMPLETELY soulless. Could be a helpful tool of course! But as a curator on submithub I come across a loooot of guitarwave/lofi-artists who use AI for their cover art. It pisses me off, haha. To me the cover art is just another expression of the music, and to use AI to make it... I don't know, tells me that you don't have respect for your art in a sense. And also makes me wonder what else in their music they have traded human passion and creativity with computer? Rant over
first guitarwavers ep 🥳🥳🥳

@Jens Mahla Really happy you resonated with that Jens! Anxiety is (unfortunately) so incredibly common with creatives, especially when sharing our music 🦦
audience building & promotion strategies
this is the focus topic of September. let's collect all our activities and learnings under this post. at the end of the month, I'll summarize it all and conclude the status quo below. this way each month we add to our topic/shared knowledge library 📚 also we'll do a dedicated focus topic call at the end of each month going through all the learnings 🦦

HI guys! So many interesting takes here. @Max Fedoseev mentions ads, and I managed to grow a playlists up to 12 000 followers and 2000 through ads (even though I do agree with the sentiment about playlists sort of making what we do just background music), that helps me get a boost whenever I release something now. Haven't done that in a few years however. Did the same thing as @Martin Eibisch , bought the Spotify Growth Engine course and delved into that. What I've been leaning most towards lately, to try to get away from the whole background music thing, is to be very personal with my music, and tell the story around it. Because our music don't have any lyrics, I find that I want to do that to make people connect with it on a personal level. @Sebastian Jautschus does a great job with building stories the viewers can immerse themselves in on his socials, and REALLY capturing the vibe of his music in that storytelling. I guess I've been focusing more on telling personal stories, and how that connects with the music, to make people care about the music I make, and perhaps connect with it on a deeper level. Since this is a time of short focus, I've been experimenting with short hooks, to make people stay and watch any videos of me playing the songs as well.
