Let's compare homelabs!
I'd would love to see what kind of homelabs have been built by this community, whether bare-metal or virtualized! What is your hardware stack? What is your software stack? Got any pictures? What about Git repos?

@Piotr Minasz it's not how big it is, but how you use it. What are you doing with your Arduino?

@Chinnayya Chintha This video should be enough to get you inspired
What was THE moment you decided on DevOps? ♾️
We all got exposure to DevOps at some point. Some as software engineers, some as sysadmins, and some from completely non-technical backgrounds. I share the story of how I went from nurse to DevOps in the DevOps Blueprint in the Classroom, Image #2 has something to do with it. Do you know what it is? But I want to hear your story. At what point did you decide that DevOps is the thing you want to pursue?

Improving efficiency and workflows
If you haven't looked into improving your workflow you're definitely missing out. There are plenty of ways to improve: Software: How do you move around an editor? Are you constantly moving your hand to your mouse and back to your keyboard? There may be a keybind you can use instead. Editors like vim or emacs are the apex of this, where you can easily edit files without using a mouse once. Hardware: How many hours have you spent typing on a keyboard? RSI is a real injury people get, if you use a keyboard daily for hours, you should look into more ergonomic layouts (e.g. Colemak, Dvorak, etc) or even a more ergonomic keyboard. While a lot of these methods will see you immediately lose productivity, if you stick at it you can regain and even improve your speeds. If you want to read how I made my own split, ergo keyboard then have a look at my blog post. =D https://ed-thomas.dev/blog/my-first-custom-keyboard/ https://www.linkedin.com/posts/edthomas87_keyboards-colemak-developertools-activity-7379527711544762369-TNs3

I went all the way through college without learning how to type beyond the "hunt and peck" I assimilated from playing runescape as a child. During COVID, I decided to take the time to learn how to type correctly, and while I was at it I switched to Programmers Dvorak. It was a difficult transition at first, but now my posture is better and I have less back pain.
Which is harder — Software Development or DevOps?
Hi everyone, my name is Akash Patil. I’m a MERN Stack Developer with 2.5+ years of experience. I have a question for everyone — which do you think is harder: software development or DevOps? Or does it just vary from person to person? I’m asking because, during my 2-year web development journey, I never felt that much excitement — until I started learning Docker. I haven’t mastered it yet, but it really caught my attention. Now, I’m seriously considering transitioning into a DevOps role. I’m sure I’ll get some great insights from this amazing community.

Variety is the spice of life. If you get stuck doing any one thing repeatedly, it'll probably get boring. The roles that I've enjoyed most are ones where I am able to own the entire software development cycle, while still focusing on backend and DevOps. This aligns with "T" shaped engineer that I hope to become. As for which is harder, that is highly subjective and role dependent. I'd say that there are more generalists than there are specialists, so take that as you will. But as a hot take, SWE is harder--there is more surface area to master (including DevOps.)

@Akash Patil TBF, data structures and algorithms are more of a gatekeeping mechanism than an actual representation of what a SDE does. I've never met anyone whose job is to invert binary trees.
