💔 The YAP Skool Community Is Closing on Tuesday
After a lot of thought, we’ve decided to officially shut down this Skool community on Tuesday, May 12th. But I want to make one thing very clear… This is NOT the end of our community. Not even close. This community was never just about a platform. It was about ambitious people coming together to grow. Entrepreneurs chasing big dreams. Creators putting themselves out there. People leveling up their lives, careers, businesses, health, and mindset together. And that doesn’t disappear. Platforms change Business evolves. But the YAP family is here to stay ❤️ So while this Skool chapter is coming to an end, I’d love for you guys to stay connected with us through the places where we’ll continue showing up every single week: 🎙️ Young and Profiting Podcast 📲 Instagram That’s where I’ll continue sharing new interviews, business lessons, behind-the-scenes moments, mindset shifts, and everything we’re building next. Some of you have been here since the beginning. Some of you just joined recently. Either way, I genuinely appreciate you for being part of this community and this journey with me. And trust me…We’re just getting started 🚀

Well, it was fun while it lasted. 😢 It felt nice that we were able to communicate with you without 100 other people commenting on IG or LinkedIn. Thanks for letting us inside your world, even if it was for a few months. ❤️
Quick leadership check 👇
Have you ever worked with someone who made every small mistake feel like a crisis? Or maybe you’ve caught yourself doing that as a leader. I sat down with developmental psychologist Dr. Aliza Pressman on YAP, and she shared something that really stuck with me: Micromanagement isn’t always about “high standards.” Sometimes, it’s about insecurity. Secure leaders create space for people to think, try, fail, and grow. Insecure leaders need control because someone else’s mistake feels like a threat to them. That hit hard because so many entrepreneurs are high performers. We move fast. We care a lot. We want things done right. But there’s a fine line between leading with excellence and leading from fear. This week, ask yourself: 👉🏼 Am I giving people room to own their work? 👉🏼 Am I correcting because it matters, or because I need control? 👉🏼 Do people feel safe bringing me problems? 👉🏼 Am I building confidence in others, or making them depend on me? One of the biggest leadership skills is learning how to make people feel safe enough to do great work. 🎥 Watch on YouTube 🎧 Listen on Apple Podcasts 🎧 Listen on Spotify Now I want to hear from you: What’s one leadership habit you’ve had to unlearn? 👇🏼

I believe most leaders are insecure because they don't possess (or haven't learned) the necessary soft skills as a leader to create an environment to allow their team members to do the work. This is where their insecurity as a leader leads to them needing to micromanage their team members to remind them who's in control. The best leaders allow their team members to do their best work and do not condemn when the efforts don't match the results they were looking for. I remember a situation that I had when I worked for my first surface coal mine as a Safety Analyst. I made a mistake. I felt horrible. But guess what my boss brought up first at my next annual performance review? My mistake. It was like I was the puppy who crapped on the floor and he's continuing to rub my nose in it. Since he started this way, I never really listened to much during the rest of the review. The one leadership lesson I had to learn the hard was it two-fold. The adage, "If you want done things right, you need to do them yourself," leads you to doing way to much out of a fear that when you delegate the project or task will not be done to your liking. This lead to a very critical conversation with my boss. I had spent HOURS working on a presentation for our annual safety training and I told him there were just a few things I needed to correct before the training. This is when he said something that I still remember to this day, "Randy, sometimes good is GOOD enough." See I operated out of a need for perfection and often times it led me to fall prey to the concept of "paralysis from over-analysis."

Hmmm...let me do some deep inner thinking... My name is Randy Milliron and I have been a safety professional for the last 28 years in Wyoming in 3 major industries (general industry, surface coal mining, and now with a City Municipality). I've been married for 30 years this June. We have two beautiful children who both got married over the last two years. My wife has been a PE teacher at one of our junior highs and she only has two more years until she can retire. So we are really looking forward to our retirement years. But we have to stay busy with hobbies and hopefully some grandkids. Okay, I'm good. Now, onto your questions. 1️⃣ What inspired you to become an entrepreneur? I'm really not an entrepreneur (man that's a hard word to spell). I have a YouTube channel that I've had for the last 5+ years. I have videos scheduled to drop twice a week until the end of June. I'm stuck at around 500 Subs but over 2M views. I have used my 28-year career as a content creator to even sell my services a few times and make decent money. BTW, never take a job with friends...they never will understand your worth or even pay you. 2️⃣ What kind of creator-led business are you building (or hoping to build)? For me it is two-fold. I have been a safety professional for 28 years, but I have only put myself out there to speak at national safety conferences since 2021. The amount of conferences I speak at has 10X'd since I began in 2021. The only downside, is I don't get paid to speak (the conferences cover the conference fee). I would love to retire in a few years and become a paid public speaker (dreams). So I am taking every conference I can speak at (and as long as my day job allows me to spread my wings). My 2nd dream is to have more time to create videos (for me personally and for clients). 3️⃣ What’s your biggest challenge right now as a creator or entrepreneur? For the speaking side of my dreams, it is to get my face out there so people know me and know what I can speak to. In fact, I'm in the process of (FINALLY) finishing my first leadership book. For the YouTube channel, just keep putting out good quality videos for the community.
When are you most productive?
Quick question for everyone 👇 When do you feel most productive during the day? 🌅 Morning ☀️ Afternoon 🌙 Night And why do you think that is? Curious to see the different answers.

@Kiley Suarez I love that you mentioned Gallop strengths. I really need to have my top 5 front and center so I can remember them. I just looked and my top 5 are Maximizer, Positivity, Learner, Communication, & Individualization. Do you have a podcast? I really want to start one. And I am using all of those strengths to find out all the ins and outs.

@Hala Taha For me, it's the lack of distractions. As long as I don't go down the FBook reels black hole for hours, then I can remain very productive. But if I did have some extra clones lying around, I would put their butts to work on things I don't seem to have time to get around to. LOL
