🚨 Lessons from a Recent Etihad Open Day Rejection (Please Read Before Your Next Assessment)
Today, I want you to learn from someone else's mistakes that led to a rejection at the Etihad Open Day in Prague. One of my recent students reached out after receiving a rejection and asked me to analyse what might have gone wrong and how she could prepare for her next attempt. Below is the email, with only her personal details changed to protect her identity. After her email, you'll find my analysis and the key lessons that every future candidate should take away from this. "I went to the open day place 8:50am so I started with the other candidates from 9:00. There were 40-50 people at that time! For the CV drop, they actually said they wouldn’t take any paper CVs for sustainability reasons, so I didn’t have a chance to hand them my CV. Instead, we needed to fill out the form after the interview was done. I talked with a male recruiter, and our conversation was like this: Me: Hi! How are you? Recruiter: I'm good, how are you? Me: I'm also good, thank you! Recruiter: What's your name? Me: I'm Ji-eun. Recruiter: Sorry, could you say it again? Me: I'm Ji-eun Kim. Recruiter: Where are you originally from? Me: I'm from Korea! Recruiter: Did you come all the way here from Korea? Me: No, I'm currently living in Berlin, so I came here from Berlin. Recruiter: What are you doing in Berlin? Me: I'm working at a café and a souvenir shop! Recruiter: Oh, a souvenir shop! How did you know about Etihad? Me: I actually wanted to join Etihad from a year and a half ago, and I really love the company's atmosphere and also the beautiful uniform. Recruiter: I appreciate that, thank you. Do you have any friends in Etihad? Me: Yes, I actually have! I heard she's going to join in August! And then he asked me to scan the QR code and I left the room. I filled out the form after I got back to my hotel. I actually couldn't give up, so I changed the email address and applied online again that same night." After reading through her conversation, these are the biggest lessons I want everyone in this community to take away:

Thank you, Marta, for sharing this wonderful experience, which most of us could probably fall into these mistakes unintentionally, but you shed light on every detail in such a professional and informative way that makes it easy and smooth to learn from. Marta, you're doing more than an amazing job, and I'm so grateful. I benefited so much from this experience, and I can't stop reading it over and over again. I hope this colleague achieves her dream and becomes a cabin crew soon❤️🙌
Midweek Group Call
Let's connect for a group call next week to practice the activities I introduced during our last session. I sent you an email with the link to our Google Meet session 🤍 Please remember to complete the English test practice beforehand, as we will review the answers together during the call: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LAHQ9I6X6T1FsyGnJIXry_rPGlDkd2scqsKZ2ULlzJ4/edit?usp=sharing If you're able to join, that's great. If not, the recording will be available in the classroom afterward. Hope to see you there! @Daniela Niamba @Maria Babirye Nassiwa @Alvin Raymond Wu @Martin Krawczyk @Muhammadi Qurbonov @Jiayu Wu
