Happy Thankful Thursday Fam! I am so Thankful for the new Art Opportunities and everything I am learning about myself. This year I decided to apply for as many Art Events,Competitions, Art calls that felt aligned to my mission as an Artist. I told myself to continue to go for the big places and stop thinking/doing small. I reminded myself of all that I have accomplished over the years as an artist! I reminded myself that my art is in Art Museums, Centers, and been at Gala's on display or still on display! Last year I got stuck in using my time to make merchandise and going to small events and this started changing my mindset. Nothing wrong with continuing doing small events with my Community or selling merchandise but, I started loosing sight of the big picture that I was striving for the years prior and lost sight of what I had accomplished. I barely created any new art because I gave all my attention to selling and making Merch. I started feeling like this was the only place for my art because sales where good but started feeling lack because I stopped making art. This year I got back into I Can Do Anything I put my mind to and focused on what is important for my growth as an Artist. Been spending way more time creating art in the art studio and applying for more art opportunities! I will share and create my art in important places because I know that the world needs to see my Art and the Joy it brings to so many is beyond amazing 🙌🎨💖I Am Thankful and Grateful for the lessons and understanding of my true purpose 🙏 🙌 ✨️ Fam Keep going and working towards your dreams! Even if you go on a detour you can always make a change today and get back on track. Sometimes the detours are needed to help us understand the bigger picture and gain momentum again in working towards our goals! Happy Super Saturday!!! New Art Prompt!!! Have a wonderful weekend and if you get a chance go out in nature please enjoy it's beauty! Here is a video I made a while ago with some drawings for a 30 Page Sketchbook for the Princeton Art Museum! Doing these Sketchbooks have really changed the way I think about drawing new things. Creating these books (3 books) the fear of not knowing how to draw new things went away over time. I gave myself a challenge on at least half of each book to create and learn how to draw new things. With Consistency, Practice, and Research you can create anything you want. Yes the 1st sketches might be hard, messy, or not what you want. Please know that if you continue to practice they will get better and your confidence will rise! Some of my best artwork came from super messy sketches! 👏🤣🎨 For these Sketchbooks I wanted to tell a story and in doing so I had so much fun learning all about what I was drawing! The Art Prompt that I would like to encourage you to do a little bit each day is sketch. You don't need anything fancy (unless you want fancy) all you need is something to draw on and something to draw with! Next Art Prompt we will be adding color, so keep it basic right now and focus on sketches. Go out in nature and find something that inspires you and take Note either on a paper, phone,or mentally. Think about why it inspires you or what about it is intriguing to you? Then whenever you have some free moments in your day start to do research about the thing you chose. Research facts and even video/photos. Now it is time start drawing, do this a little bit each day. Draw different versions of it( watch tutorials) or ask me and I might have drawn it and can give you pointers or resources! For the past 8-10 weeks I've been working on a project for my bathroom. Previous projects have been for others, so it was beautiful to curate something for myself. Going to class once a week has allowed me to express with other creatives and express myself using many mediums.
