@Ann Vancoillie yeah !!
Blue Drag lick
The altered lick #2 we have learnt this week is also in the "111 mini-tutos" in another tonality, Am, in the first video (see lick #5): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TE3RdAx_Gg I knew I had already heared it somewhere 🙂 That pushes me to go through these 111 tutos again...

On the Whisper Not version with Giovanni you start your solo with a lick made of the same rhythm (coming from part C) starting with this pick-up and triplet which give a lot of swing to the arpeggio. You use it several times in the final Dm blues as well ! It gives a color typical to this tune I believe.
Improvising
So after going thru the melody, he starts improvising, just like I've heard many times. How to start improvising?

Some people say : "Improvisation is something you can't improvise" 🙂 It seems that, after you have worked the impro technique (learnt the language and the rhythm, what Eva teaches), improvisation comes when you forget about everything you learnt and let the music go through you, for the good and for the bad (being prepared for the bad and do not bother is part of the learning 😀). The good thing is that you do not have to wait for years of hard work before improvising; you can improvise at the very beginning, rhythm being key; it is very progressive, this is what is nice with learning improvisation and this is what Eva teaches very well. But be careful: as soon as you have caught the virus, it is forever !

I just discovered this lovely version from Gérard Poulet, a wonderful violonist. It might become my favorite... What do you think ? https://open.spotify.com/album/2I673tdYUpG7cHy7H0nbML?si=AI-3Txx7T9i9-b2t2S6FCQ
