Have you heard
Something like "use a wide Aperture to isolate your subject" and similar in photography? What's the truth? What is your truth? Please comment here.

There is truth to it. Depends on the situation too. Will the subject blend in with the background? Can you add a foreground to help it stand out. Is that the final image desire or do you want to portray the subject blending into the rest of the image? Many ways to think about it.
Water Crossing New Forest
As The Subject Came Into The Shot, I waited To Capture Them Moving Into The Scene, Using The Over Hung Branches To Frame The Image, F8 To Keep Everything In relative sharpness.

Love the use of a wide angle lens for this shot. It really makes you feel like you are there and gives so much context!
Howdy photographers!
Thank you all for welcoming me to this community! I’m teaching a beginner photography class soon. Does anyone have anything that they had to learn on their own that they thought should have been in a photography class?

Big Ears.
This Shot Is Of A Donkey In The New Forest Munching On A Prickle Bush. Used An Open Aperture To Blur The Background. The Left And The Right Of The Subject Was Distracting So Got Close Using 35mm f2.0
