Today I am 1293 days sober. It took me a while to figure it out but once I said it out loud to people and owned it, I haven’t gone back. I start every day with a daily reflection and take time to examine myself, plan a workout and get ready to own my day. I need this. Being productive and finding meaning through action and purposeful work. I hope you enjoy it and would love to know how you start your day! Josh Fear never completely disappears. It shows up in different forms—self-doubt, uncertainty, stress, loneliness, and the temptation to return to old coping mechanisms. As first responders, we’re trained to run toward discomfort on the job. Recovery asks us to do the same in our personal lives. Sobriety isn’t about eliminating fear. It’s about learning to move forward despite it. It’s choosing the difficult conversation, the early workout, the meeting, the phone call, or simply sitting with uncomfortable emotions instead of escaping them. Every day we lean into discomfort rather than away from it, we build resilience. Today’s challenge: Do one thing you’ve been avoiding. The path to growth is usually hiding behind it. Own your day. Stay sober. Stay relentless.
