Lets break down the questions and claims of Ms. Goodlander and discuss each one individually. 1. She remind Pete Hegseth that he said he would be accountable for every dollar his department receives. The department has failed 8 audits, including last year. Why did she mention 8 audits? I am sure she is aware that 7 of those were under previous administrations. If she wanted to be serious she should have asked about the audit failed last year, and the line items where there were failures. Then she could have asked what steps were taken to correct these specific failures. 2. She asks about the 25 billion dollars that have been spent to date on the war vs Iran. There is agreement on the 25 billion figure. She asks for a breakdown on the amount spent on munitions and other items. She is told we will get you this. She says that if they are going to be accountable she would like an answer now. She is told you are briefed on this every week. She says she would like them to provide and answer now. She is told you already have it, we give you that information every week. She claims this is a question with a simple answer and is told "you are asking a question with an answer you already have." To me this is obvious political grandstanding. She already has this information. I will further say I doubt and CEO of a company with a yearly budget of around a trillion dollars could give accurate accounting of everything in a projects budget off the top of their head. Another example would be to ask a family how much they spent on groceries in the last 60 days, then ask that to be broken down into categories. How much was spent on meat products, grain product, dairy product, sugary drinks, vegetables, fruits, ect? Tell us off the top of your head, and no we already gave you copies of the grocery receipts is not an acceptable answer. 3. She then wants to make a point that the average cost of a gallon of gas in the US on 2/28/2026 was $2.83 and now it is $4.23 and that should shock the conscience of every American. She does not mention that he highest average cost of gas under Joe Biden reached $5.07 per gallon. That is when her party was in power, was she making these speeches about shocking the conscience then? No 4. I conclude this speech was not honest questioning, it was political grandstanding and a dishonest attempt to make them look bad.
