Canada preparing for US invasion
For the first time in 100 years, Ottawa is planning for prospect of an attack from southern border. Canada's armed forces have created a model to prepare for the possibility of US invasion after Donald Trump said he wanted to annex its territory. The idiot wants to take over Canada whose land mass is bigger than the US and make it just another state. In addition he chides Russia and China for grabbing other countries to grow, but it is OK for him to do worse.

This would be great news and a huge step in the right direction for the security of both countries. For several decades Canada has been skimping on defense spending because they feel the US will protect them. Trump has been complaining about this and what he felt were unfair tariffs for a long time. In fact in a meeting with Trudeau he mentioned his complaints, and said that he felt Canada was taking advantage of the US. Trudeau said something on the lines of Canada can't afford to do that. And that prompted the response saying if you can not afford to be a country without being subsidized by the US you should became the 51st state and you could be the governor. If Canada were to take full responsibility for its defense that would be a huge step in the right direction and would make both the US and Canada more secure.

@Andrew Koster Under Prime Minister Mark Carney, Canada is set to increase its defense spending to 2% of GDP by March 2026
Admittedly I never did well in math
In Minnesota, a blue state, it is estimated that there are 130, 000 undocumented people. In Florida and Texas, red states respectively, 1.2 million and 2.1 million. So why is ICE so active in Minnesota? If the aim of DHS is to get the undocumented out of the country, wouldn't they more effecttive with the states with higher populations? Or is that NOT the aim of DHS?

Ice is active in all states, but they are "surging" extra agents to sanctuary states and cities. A sanctuary state or city means that the government there has a policy of not assisting ICE. One policy typical of these areas is that if a migrant is arrested on suspicion of a crime they do not hold the migrant and turn them over to ICE when the state releases them, even if ICE has already issued a deportation detainer. They also typically do not report the number of encounters their law enforcement has with people in the country illegally. On the other hand states like Florida and Texas have policies in place to assist ICE. "Using new government data provided by ICE and processed by the Deportation Data Project, we found high levels of ICE arrests — over 1,000 a day — concentrated in states that fully collaborate with the Trump administration. Nearly half (48%) of these arrests happen out of local jails and other lock-ups. " "States like Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia have required local law enforcement to deputize staff to serve ICE, leading to high numbers of arrests." I'm just curious
How do you think a liberty-focused approach should handle free speech when opinions strongly conflict?

Just because someone has the right to have an opinion does not mean you have to listen to it and discuss it. There is nothing wrong with saying that is your opinion. I disagree and ending the conversation there.
US is building a new global alliance
The administration of Donald Trump is building a new alliance to counter emergent threats and influence from repressionist regimes. The administration has signaled that many of our cold war allies have lost their way. This was called out in a speech by JD Vance about 1 month after the beginning of President Trumps second term. On 14 February 2025, U.S. vice president JD Vance delivered a speech at the 61st Munich Security Conference. In his speech, Vance argued that Europe's principal danger came from erosion of democratic norms — especially censorship, suppression of dissent, and exclusion of populist voices — rather than threats from Russia or China. He criticized European Union leaders for actions such as annulling Romania's presidential election under claims of foreign interference and using "misinformation" laws to silence political opposition and using "misinformation" laws to silence political opposition. Vance warned that the U.S. would condition its support for Europe on whether its governments actually uphold free speech, press freedom, and political legitimacy. The administration has also been critical of the immigration policies of many European countries. “Europe, they want to be politically correct, and it makes them weak,” Trump said. “Europe is a different place. If that keeps going the way it’s going, in my opinion, many of those countries will not be viable countries any longer,” Trump said. “Their immigration policy is a disaster.” The administration has also been critical of allies that have not been spending appropriate amounts on defense. In many cases these countries have been too comfortable spending so little on defense because they are allied to the US and feel secure that the US will defend them. While spending too little on defense many of these countries have instead been spending the money on social programs, financing these programs on the back of US taxpayers. As the leader of the free world the president has been reversing similar censorship and immigration programs implemented under the Biden administration and has called on our allies to do the same. The ones that respond are welcome to join us in a new global alliance that will stand against tyrants and repression.

I see you want to switch the subject. The "wine moms" are the ones confronting law enforcement. Now to replay to your diversions. 1. Being confronted by armed men without ID, wearing masks and carrying weapon You can ask agents to show you their badges and identify themselves. 2. ICE law enforcement officers wear masks to prevent doxing, which can (and has) placed them and their families at risk. All ICE law enforcement officers carry badges and credentials and will identify themselves when required for public safety or legal necessity. 3. You'd do well to research ICE hiring practices. I believe the term is low hanging fruit. Yes and I am ok with this. 4. This kind of armed men on the streets is a new phenomemon in the USA. Well maybe not new. It is extremely common for law enforcement to be armed. 5. The Biden administration imported millions of immigrants and gave them benefits, overloading our systems in many cases. By giving them so many benefits you train them to have their hands out and its easy to convince people that have hands out to vote progressive. You should really do some research before spouting leftist propaganda that is only used to destabilize the US.

I suggest you go look at JFK record as President. You will find that what was once a liberal democrat would now be considered very right wing. JFK past civil rights laws that banned preference based on sex or race. Basically Kennedy wanted everyone to have equal opportunity. This is far different than equality, reparations and affirmative action. Equality requires equal outcomes not equal opportunity. Affirmative action requires preference towards people of certain races (discrimination). Reparations requires punishing a group for that groups sins generations ago but only if that group is not a minority. "Ask not what you can do for your country not what your country can do for you." This is a far cry from Santa Claus approach of progressives where they say Ill give you these benefits and get the rich to pay for it. You can research further if you want to but you get the point. If traditional policies and wanting to keep the policies that made the US the strongest country on earth is right wing so be it.
