Prompt #2: Continuous Line Sunflower 🌻
I love seeing our new art community start to come alive. Let's keep the momentum going! I’m opening up the premium Deep Dives vault for this prompt. I want to give everyone a tiny taste of the mini masterclasses we do inside our paid tier every month. So for this week's challenge, we're going to throw perfectionism completely out the window and try a technique that's wild, but deeply therapeutic, and the ultimate inner critic short-circuit: continuous line drawing. 🌻How to participate: Watch my quick video called "Continuous Line Sunflower" in the free Sketch Society Sneak Peek course in our Classroom. It breaks down the technique & gives the instructions for this drawing prompt. This video is actually the first Sketch Society Deep Dive video for premium tier members, but I'm giving everyone a free sneak peek. 🌻After you've given it a try, snap a pic of your continuous line flower drawing and post it below, in the comments of this thread. Let's all cheer each other on! 🌻And if you find yourself falling in love with this low-pressure, high-inspiration way of making art, consider joining our premium tier, The Sketch Society. As a paid member, you'll get access to our ever-expanding vault of Deep Dive mini masterclasses, structured & supportive feedback in our private Critique Corner, and monthly Live Calls where we draw together in real time.

I'm a little late on this fun exercise. I picked a crepe myrtle branch which in hindsight is far more intricate than I'm ready for. I embraced the idea of just letting it be whatever and not trying actually make it look the same. One thing I found myself doing was falling back into drawing what I thought it should look like rather than what I see because I got frustrated that it was taking so long to capture each node of flowers. Id like to try and learn how to capture the shape more generally with less detail so that I can draw the whole thing in a shorter amount of time.
Prompt #1: An item on your desk - Share your sketch in the comments!
🎨Pick a single object on your desk right now (or nearby if you aren’t at a desk). It could be your coffee mug, a pair of scissors, or even your phone charger. ⏲️Give yourself about three minutes to do a simple contour drawing (using only line). 🎨No erasing allowed - just let your lines be! ⭐Share your sketch with us in the comments below using the paperclip to attach a pic. I've added mine here to start us off. P.s. If you’re feeling nervous about sharing a “messy” sketch, remember that “perfect” drawings are pretty boring. We want to see your one-of-a-kind lines, quirks & all.

@Beth Hempton when you draw a straight line do you move your whole arm or just your wrist? I find that my wrist is not stable and makes the lines wobbly.

Today I tried to draw this decorative fish. He's a little angry looking but still pretty good. My goal was to keep things proportional so when I loop back to the beginning it all lines up and I don't have a weird skewed drawing. This is my second drawing I've sat down to make in 30 years and I hope to get good enough to draw my garden and plants
Morning sketches & a question for you
I've just spent about 15 minutes on my couch with a cup of coffee, drawing roses from the back garden in my sketchbook. While I did that, I thought about how lovely it is that I've just gotten started with building this community here on Skool, and you have already found it. Thanks so much for joining. I'm really glad you're here, and I'm excited about drawing with you! ✍️ My question for you: What are you most excited to learn? 👩‍🎨 Please drop a comment & let me know. As an early member of the Fun Drawing Club, your feedback will really help me create something awesome! Take time to smell the roses - and maybe draw them too, Beth {If you're reading this in your email, just hit the View Post button to read & comment on this post on Skool.}

I'd like to be able to make quick sketches of gardens and plants to bring back as inspiration for my garden
