How Do I Stop Overthinking Conversations?
I didn’t know how the conversation would go. That was the uncomfortable part. There was something I wanted to talk about with someone I love and I couldn’t predict how she would respond. I could say something, open the conversation and discover what she thought… or I could keep it to myself. I chose the conversation and then I did something that matters more to me than simply finding the courage to speak. I listened. I didn’t need the conversation to end with a particular answer. I could hear her thoughts, consider them and enjoy talking together about what could be possible. For a woman carrying a big vision, I think that’s an important kind of freedom. There are conversations we can’t rehearse all the way to the ending. We can’t know exactly what a team member will say, how someone we love will respond or whether another person will see what we see. Wisdom still matters. Discernment still matters. But certainty isn’t always available before the conversation begins. Sometimes we get to speak thoughtfully, listen well and trust Holy Spirit with what happens next. 💬 If you had to choose one, which is harder for you?

It’s hard to start those difficult conversations. But I love that you’ve suggested just listening as a starting point. I’m good at that.

Centuries of attention
For thousands of years, people began noticing something remarkable. Certain plants helped them rest. Others helped them focus. Some brought comfort during grief. Others eased the tension that comes from carrying too much for too long. They didn’t have MRI scanners or gas chromatography. They had observation. Generation after generation, they paid attention to what happened when people breathed in the aroma of certain plants. Today, we have something they didn’t. Modern science is helping explain why many of those observations made sense. Researchers are studying how aromatic compounds interact with our sense of smell, the limbic system, emotions, memory, and the body’s stress response. For me, it isn’t a choice between ancient wisdom and modern science. The two belong together. I value the centuries of careful observation that came before us, and I’m grateful for the research that continues to deepen our understanding today. That’s why I love Aromatherapy. It honors both tradition and evidence. 🧐Have you ever wondered how people first discovered the remarkable properties of these plants?
