I’ve been attending a virtual summit where immigration lawyers and travel experts are discussing visas, residency, relocation, and what life abroad could realistically look like. The sessions have really made me rethink where I want to go and focus more on where would be the best fit for me and my small family. I’m now researching two countries I honestly would not have considered before this summit and both have become very interesting possibilities. Hopefully, by the end of the summit, I’ll have a clearer country of choice and a plan to simply GO and begin a new chapter. Most importantly, I want a place where my daughter can focus on healing, better health, and experiencing a different quality of life. 💜 🤔 Have you ever thought of moving or taking a long sabbatical abroad? I got the Skool part wrong on yesterday's post. Skool runs its own payment system through Stripe (Skool's Payments FAQ), so Apple and Google aren't taking a cut of your membership. Their app store fees are real for apps that use their checkout. Skool just isn't one of them, and I connected dots that didn't connect, but it is worth knowing for other apps you may use. But a few of you mentioned referrals going missing, and that part is worth knowing about. As one of our members pointed out, Skool takes a 30% commission through Growth Boost when it brings in a paying member. So if someone finds a group through the Discovery page instead of your link, Skool gets the credit, not you. So the advice still stands: if a friend referred you, use their link instead of finding the group through Discovery. Click the link and join directly. Skool credits the last referral link you clicked, so if you click someone else's link or find the group through Discovery afterward, the credit can go to them instead. If you join or pay for a community from inside the Skool app on your iPhone or Android, Apple or Google takes up to 30% of EVERY payment. Not just the first one. Every month. They did nothing to earn it. They just own the app store. But here is the part that really gets me. If a friend told you about this community and you clicked their link through the mobile app, that friend gets NOTHING. Not the first commission. Not any of them. Ever. Their referral can't be tracked through Apple's or Google's checkout, so the person who sent you here gets zero while a trillion-dollar company pockets 30%. I don't know about you but I would much rather that money go to a real person than to Apple. So please do this one thing for me. If you are on your phone, open your browser (Safari, Chrome, whatever you use), open the join link there, and sign up through the website. It takes ten extra seconds but your money goes to the community and to the friend who referred you instead of an app store. And one more thing. If you're browsing Skool's discovery page looking for a community to join, check first whether one of your Skool friends has a referral link for it.
