Youth Sports Burnout
Burnout is stealing the joy from too many young athletes. Endless training, pressure to perform, and “always-on” expectations can break even the most talented kids. This community discussion explores the warning signs, the hidden emotional toll, and how parents and coaches can protect passion, restore balance, and keep sport healthy, fun, and sustainable.

@Quinn Magnuson this is a huge issue for many athletes because a vast number of athletes are not overly academic and are better working with the hands. Besides looking good on a resume, my sons 5-6 years of university taking a reduced course load to compensate for learning disabilities on top of being a student athlete, anything he is able to get a degree in will be basically useless in any occupation he would actually choose to work in post football. CJFL is not quite on the same level as Usports, so for a kid hoping to go pro…. There is no option where to play

@Quinn Magnuson I have spoke to many parents whose sons are the same as mine. It is kind of an unspoken truth for many. The university’s won’t speak of it because it is supposed to be “academics /student first… sports/athlete 2nd”. But come on… what are 6’1-6’6… 240-340lb o lineman and d lineman going to do for work with all these Arts and Science degrees????? Absolutely nothing
