Proxmox Shared Storage Confusion
Looking at putting together my first 3-4 node cluster to run some self hosted apps and am unsure about shared storage after reading the docs. It looks like most home setups have a nas on the same network for dedicated media storage. Ceph I think is basically turning the cluster itself into a nas by combining the storage across nodes but requires a second higher speed network. Proxmox shared storage does that mean the various containers can acess the same files on the node that they are running or across the cluster?

Refurbished NAS HDD'S
Thoughts on going with refurbished hard drives for a nas/media server to keep the cost down ? I see shucking was a popular strategy but does not seem to make sense with the current prices. Any reccommendations on the best places to buy refurbished drives ?

RAID 5 is it dead ??
Diving into nas setups as a noob I was leaning towards a 4 bay nas with RAID 10 due to its performance and fault tolerance. Learning about proper backup practice I will probably have to keep forking out for cloud storage anyway as an off site back up. Getting the same amount of storage form RAID 5 would keep setup costs down but many post advise against it for HDD over 1TB in size. Any thoughts ?
Low Resource Setup
Hello Everyone Would any kind souls have some suggestions for the best tools to use on a very old low resource setup? The only thing I have atm to screw around with is a 2008 dell vostro 410. Learned a lot running a raw dog ubuntu server with samba and minidlna but looking to push it to its limits.

Cheers M8 for the detailed response your a hero. Yeah getting into devops got me hooked by the homelab bug. I think a budget nas is the way to go for now and I'll keep dumpster diving to add to the stack. All the best from ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช.
