WELCOME TO THE CLUBHOUSE
This is where the Fairways Optional chaos begins. I’ve dropped a quick intro video to get things started. At the end, I ask some quick questions - so jump in below and let us know: Name: Where you’re from: Where you play: What you’re working on: Your golf goal: Bonus question: What’s your most Donny moment? A Donny moment is any shot, decision or disaster that seemed like a good idea for about three seconds. I’ll go first in the comments. Welcome in. Golf’s hard. Let’s suck less together.

@Rahul Odwyer welcome Rahul! I just checked Maison Blanche out - it looks epic! That is a very achievable goal and starting with less blow ups is a good start! What do you think is the main cause of your blow ups or what do you struggle with?

Kris that is truly amazing. What an inspiration! Thank you for joining and let's get that handicap down! Let me know if you need any more information beyond what's in the videos. You are hands down winning the best Donny moment(s) so far. Appreciate the honesty and happy that you can laugh it off!!
⛳ UNHACK THIS HOLE | Tura Beach Hole 15
This one looks straightforward on the scorecard... 317m. Par 4. Stroke Index 7. It isn't. A narrow uphill landing area, fairway bunker with a huge lip, jail if you miss right, trouble left, and one of the sneakiest approach shots at Tura. Then, if you do find the green, you're greeted by some of the biggest breaks on the course. In this episode I talk through: ✅ Tee shot strategy ✅ Why position is more important than distance ✅ My recovery after finding the right trees ✅ How I played the blind approach ✅ Why the right greenside bunker is one to avoid at all costs ...and yes, I completely ignored my own advice on aiming centre green on the approach. 😅 🎯 Question for you: What's your play off the tee? 🏌️ Driver to the flat? 🏌️ Hybrid for position? 🏌️ Or something else? Drop your strategy below before watching and let's see who would play it best. Every golfer sees a hole differently—and that's what makes this series fun. Let's unhack this hole. 👇

How long is your average fade drive? Keep in mind the hole is 20+ yards uphill. That turns it into a 260 yard carry. And that lip is over head height and loves catching balls. Is aiming at the right edge of the bunker with a fade a better choice?
Unhack This Hole: Tura Beach Hole 2
Hole 2 at Tura Beach looks like a simple par 5. It is not. You’ve got out of bounds left, trees and trouble right, fairway bunkers around driver distance, then water waiting near the green. In this episode, we break down how to play the hole without turning one bad swing into a big number. The goal isn’t to play perfect golf. The goal is to make smarter decisions when golf gets messy: Better target off the tee. Smarter lay-up. Safer approach. No hero shots. No blow ups. Watch the video, then comment below: What would your strategy be on this hole? Driver and go for it? Lay up to a number? Or just try to keep Donny away from the water?

@Rhys Freebody We can put it to the test when you come visit! If you took the wedge approach, what disrtance would you lay up to so you had a comfortable shot? Would you still hit driver off the tee?

@Aritat Tatasaphan You do need to back yourself. But when do you need to back off? You've got water right + long and for this flag the front bunker is short-sided. How is your wedge game? What's the play if your high draw doesn't quite draw enough and you end up right, blocked out by the trees on a sidehill lie in the rough?
Best round ever for a 28 handicap golfer

Glyn Abbey looks like a great track! Looking forward to your low score video! I watched the Captains Challenge (well done on the win). Your chipping and putting looks pretty solid. Stay tuned for this weeks tip on aiming. I think your handicap of 28 will be coming down fast!

No worries. Your breaking 50 series is awesome. Hopefully some of our Lower Scores Fast tips will help 😉 I'm going to do one with one of our members. I promise I didn't steal the idea off you!!
Week 1 Recap 🎉
What a first week! A massive thank you to everyone who's joined the Fairways Optional Golf Club already. We've now got members from all over the world, and it's been awesome seeing everyone getting involved, introducing themselves and jumping into the challenges. We really appreciate you being here. I had a fun weekend on and off the course. Friday night we headed out for some glow-in-the-dark night golf. It was absolute chaos! We're still trying to work out the best way to film it, but stay tuned because I think we've got something pretty cool coming. Saturday... let's just say the golf wasn't exactly one for the highlight reel. 😅 One of those rounds where nothing really clicked. But it's a good reminder that golf is supposed to be fun. Not every round is your best, and that's okay. Keep smiling and enjoy being out there. Sunday was much better. I got out with the boys and filmed nine holes with Gaudi to kick off his Breaking 100 series. We've now got a baseline score, a clear idea of what needs improving, and I'm really excited to see how much we can help him - and hopefully plenty of you along the way. A huge congratulations to Cody Dixon, our Week 1 Lag Putt Challenge winner with an impressive 9 points! 👏 Can anyone knock him off this week? Grab a few balls, head to the practice green and let's keep working towards saying goodbye to those three-putts. I've also uploaded this week's Lower Scores Fast lesson, all about aiming. It's one of those simple things that every golfer - even the good players - can benefit from. Take an extra few seconds to check your aim before you check into the Hotel Double Bogey. And if you haven't seen it yet, the latest Unhack This Hole is live! I froze my backside off and got absolutely soaked filming that one, so I really hope you enjoy it. Have a fantastic week everyone. Hit 'em well, make smart decisions, and remember GOLF IS FUN!⛳️
