πŸ‡°πŸ‡· Culture & Fun #1 β€” Why do Koreans eat so late at night?
If you've ever watched a Korean drama, you've seen it: it's 10pm, and someone is eating ramen or fried chicken alone in their apartment. This isn't just a drama thing. It's real. Korea has one of the most active late-night food cultures in the world β€” 24-hour convenience stores, late-night delivery, dawn delivery (μƒˆλ²½ 배솑). The phrase "ya-shik" (야식) literally means "night food" and it's a whole culture. What do you think of this ya-shik culture? Does your country have a late-night food culture? What do you eat? Drop your thoughts as a comment below β€” in English or Korean, both are welcome πŸ‘‡

πŸ—£οΈ Speaking Thread #1 β€” Introduce Yourself in Korean
Here's your first speaking challenge. Say this sentence out loud and record yourself: "μ•ˆλ…•ν•˜μ„Έμš”, μ €λŠ” [your name]μ΄μ—μš”." (Hello, I am [your name].) Then upload your audio clip as a comment below. Don't worry about being perfect. That's not the point. The point is to get your voice out there. πŸ’‘ Pronunciation tip: "μ•ˆλ…•ν•˜μ„Έμš”" ends with a falling tone β€” not rising like a question. Try it! I'll listen to every recording and leave a short comment. 🎧

πŸ‘‹ Meet Your Coach – Otto (aka Doctor O.)

A little about me: - Native Korean speaker - Undergrad in Business, Seoul National University - MBA & Juris Doctor, University of Wisconsin in the US - Former Korea Country Rep of a global ed tech company - International business consultant & lawyer Why I built this community: I noticed that most Korean learning platforms teach at you. They give you grammar rules, vocabulary lists, quizzes. But nobody teaches you how to actually open your mouth and sound natural. That's what LingMo Lab is for. At LingMo Korean Speaking Lab, I help learners improve: - Pronunciation - Intonation - Rhythm - Speaking speed - Linking sounds - Natural flow - Sentence-building skills - Real conversation ability I personally listen to your recordings and give you real, specific feedback β€” not generic tips. If you ever want a personal pronunciation evaluation, I'm here. For now β€” introduce yourself and let's get started! πŸŽ™οΈ I’m excited to guide your Korean speaking journey and help you experience the moment when Korean finally β€œclicks.” Welcome to LingMo Korean Speaking Lab! πŸ˜ŠπŸŽ™πŸ‡°πŸ‡·
