Discussion Post Four - Biblical Interpretation
Looking at Luke 8:9-15, begin to list as many observations as you can. Which observations stood out to you the most?

My main observation is when Jesus says”The seed is the word of God” this reminds me that my main role in sharing The Gospel is to just plant the seed. God is the one who waters it. Some people will be receptive to it and others won’t. My responsibility is to just plant seeds.

observations 1. Paul tells us to rejoice twice in the opening sentence. 2. Gentleness is one of the fruits of the spirit. 3. The peace of God is what guards our hearts and minds. 4. Paul uses a list to describe things we should be thinking about. 5. Paul tells us to then put those things into practice. (Things that are noble, pure, right) Questions 1.why is rejoicing in The Lord important? 2. Is prayer the only way to guard our hearts and minds? 3. why is Jesus referred to as the prince of peace. 4. How do we know The Lord is near to us? 5. what kind of requests can we bring to God?
Discussion Post Two - Biblical Interpretation
Pick a BibleProject video on the book of the Bible that you wish to study more of. After watching their video, what are some key takeaways about the context of the book? 1. Who wrote the book? 2. What was the historical context of the book? 3. What are some key takeaways from what you learned?

I choose 1st Timothy 1. Paul wrote this book 2. Some historical context on this book is that Paul got word about a group of leaders who infiltrated the church in Ephesus. Who were spreading incorrect views about Jesus and what it means to follow him. It was written approximately AD 64 most likely before Paul’s final imprisonment. It was written either in Rome or Macedonia 3. Some key takeaways from this book are that Paul was like a father to Timothy. I feel like he saw a lot of himself in Timothy and that’s why he cared for him. He essentially became Paul’s protégé. In this first letter Paul was warning Timothy about false teachers, how to recognize and respond to them. Also encouraging him to hold on to his faith and that no one should think less of him because he was young. He told Timothy to be an example to all believers in what we say, and in the way we live.

2 Timothy 1:13 says, "What you heard from me, keep as a pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus." We learned that "pattern" means "prototype" or "outline," which is what Paul wanted for his disciple Timothy. What is your current pattern of Biblical study? Be as honest as possible, no judgment!

Honestly I’m still developing my pattern for studying the Bible. Right now it consists of reading a chapter in the morning and a chapter at night, and I highlight anything that sticks out to me or I write notes on the side.
