@Aaron Doughty You said that the more we desperately want something, the more it tends to move away from us. But in your latest video, you gave the examples of Michael Jackson and Michael Jordan, who were both deeply driven by a desire for their fathers’ approval and attention. You suggested that they achieved extraordinary success by operating from their shadow selves or survival structures. So how do we reconcile these two ideas? If desperately wanting something pushes it further away from us, how can the intense desire for their fathers’ approval have been the very thing that fueled their extraordinary achievements? Can the same desire that holds us back also be the driving force behind our greatest accomplishments? And if so, how do we distinguish between a desire that comes from our survival mechanisms and one that comes from a healthier, more authentic place?
