🏀 PLAY OF THE DAY 🏀
Team A has possession in its backcourt. A1 passes the ball toward A2, who is standing in the frontcourt near the division line. A2 jumps from the frontcourt, catches the pass while airborne and then lands with both feet in the backcourt. No defender touches the pass. What is the correct NFHS ruling? A. Backcourt violation B. Legal play because the pass originated in the backcourt C. Legal play because A2 caught the ball while airborne D. Traveling violation Make your ruling and explain which court status A2 has while airborne. I’ll post the answer and rule breakdown later. 👀

🏀 PLAY OF THE DAY 🏀
A1 drives into the lane and gathers the ball with both hands. A1 jumps from one foot to attempt a shot, but B1 places both hands firmly on the basketball before A1 can release it. For a brief moment, both players have their hands on the ball. B1 never gains sole possession, but B1’s grip prevents A1 from completing the shot. A1 then returns to the floor while still holding the ball. What is the correct NFHS ruling? A. Traveling violation on A1 B. Held ball C. Defensive foul on B1 D. No call—play continues Make your ruling and explain why. I’ll post the answer and rule breakdown later. 👀

🏀 PLAY OF THE DAY: BLOCK, CHARGE—AND DOES THE BASKET COUNT?
A1 drives toward the basket and plants the final foot before jumping for a layup. At the moment A1 plants that foot, B1 has only one foot touching the court. Before A1 becomes airborne, B1 gets both feet on the floor with the torso facing A1. B1 then moves one step laterally and slightly backward to remain in A1’s path. A1 releases the layup and, while still airborne, makes significant torso-to-torso contact with B1. B1 is displaced and falls backward. The ball enters the basket. Under NFHS rules, what is your ruling? A. Blocking foul on B1—count the basket and award one free throw B. Player-control foul on A1—cancel the basket C. Offensive foul on A1—but count the basket because the ball was released first D. No-call—count the basket Consider these questions: When must B1 establish legal guarding position? Is B1 required to remain stationary afterward? Does A1 stop being an airborne shooter when the ball is released? Should the successful try count? Drop your ruling and rule-based explanation below. The official answer comes tomorrow. 👇

🏀 PLAY OF THE DAY #4: BLOCK, GOALTENDING OR BASKET INTERFERENCE?
A1 drives toward the basket and releases a layup on a legitimate try for goal. The ball contacts the backboard while it is still traveling upward. The entire ball remains above the level of the basket ring and still has a possibility of entering the basket. After the ball touches the backboard—but before it reaches the ring—B1 jumps and knocks it away. B1 does not touch the rim or backboard. Under current NFHS rules, what should the official call? A. Legal blocked shot B. Defensive goaltending C. Basket interference Make your ruling and explain which fact determines the call. The correct ruling and rulebook explanation will be posted later. #PlayOfTheDay #BasketballRules #Goaltending #BasketballReferee #Offlete

🏀 PLAY OF THE DAY #3: PASS OR TRAVEL?
A1 catches the ball and establishes the left foot as the pivot foot while B1 applies defensive pressure. A1 lifts the left pivot foot and passes the ball to teammate A2 before the pivot foot returns to the court. Under NFHS rules, what should the official call? A. Traveling violation B. Legal play—continue play Make your ruling and explain why in the comments. The correct ruling and rulebook explanation will be posted later. #PlayOfTheDay #BasketballRules #BasketballReferee #Offlete
