3 contributions to Addiction 2 Recovery
Mel Robbins and Simon Sinek-A Great Listen
1. Take Small, Practical Actions When Feeling Overwhelmed or Emotionally Drained How to push through days when life feels too heavy, even struggling to get out of bed, by finding simple, actionable ways to regain control. It encourages starting with the “5 Second Rule” rather than waiting to “feel ready.” Progress is possible even on tough days. 2. Let Go of the Need to Control Others (and Their Opinions) The “Let Them Theory” allows us to shed the weight of others’ expectations and giving people freedom to be themselves. This frees us to align with our own values and frees us to do what we want and need to do. 3. Just Do It. The most important word is “Just”. We all struggle with self-doubt, we hesitate. We think instead of just doing what we need to do. This fits into the “5 Second Rule”. Say 5,4,3,2,1 and then just do it. Take action even when you don’t want to. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-bit-of-optimism/id1515385282?i=1000743939811

I’m really proud of the courage and commitment I see in this community. Recovery takes honesty, resilience, and daily effort…and that deserves respect. I want to be clear and transparent with you: I don’t have a sobriety date. I’ve never used alcohol or other substances. I’ve spent time reflecting on how that might be received, and I want you to hear this directly from me. While I don’t share lived addiction experience, I made a decision years ago to dedicate my life to helping, supporting, and strengthening others. That commitment led me into coaching, community leadership, and formal study in child and family development. I’ve chosen to walk alongside people who are rebuilding their lives…not as someone who has all the answers, but as someone who is deeply invested in their growth. I believe we all face battles every day. They come in different forms, but they are real…and they matter. I respect the battles you are fighting, and I’m committed to showing up with consistency, integrity, and care. My commitment is simple: to support this community, to build safety and to never quit on people who are choosing to move forward. I also commit to learning from you. I respect you greatly. I’d love to know: how can I best support you here?

You got this! Keep it up. I know I just joined this community but I’m inspired already. I learned something a while ago. An airplane is not perfectly “on course” most of the time. In fact: - It’s constantly being pushed off course by wind, air pressure, turbulence, weight shifts, etc. - Pilots (and the autopilot) are making tiny, continuous corrections, often every few seconds. - Those adjustments are usually so small passengers never notice, but they’re essential. Drift → correct → drift → correct → arrive Some aviation folks even say planes are technically off course more often than they’re perfectly on it, but the corrections are fast and consistent, which is why they still land exactly where intended. I think this is a lot like life. We keep making micro adjustments, a little everyday to get better and progress towards our goal. Keep focused on the destination.
