✍️✍️✍️ START HERE>>> Welcome! (And a question for you...)
Hey! I'm so pleased you're here. I'm on a mission to create a community of aspiring writers, writers for fun, and award-winners-to-be, where we can all share our ideas, work and inspiration, and I can share my knowledge and passion for creating worlds, people and work that moves people - to laughter, tears, action, and everything in between. If you haven't already, please take a moment to introduce yourself (using our 10 interview questions, if you like) in a new post (Community tab>>Write Something) And then, what better time to start writing than right now, with the free Scene One 7-day 'get writing' challenge. But first, a quick question What are you hoping to see and do and learn here? (There are no wrong answers to this!) Please do reach out and say hello. Happy Writing! Mark :-)

Hi all! SUPER LATE to the party (apologies), but I thought I would introduce myself properly 😃 1. What’s your name? Noor. (rhymes with Door) 2. Where are you from? I was born and raised in Manchester (Yes, I support Manchester United. No, I am not an Oasis fan). But I also lived in Edinburgh for a year, and studied in Sheffield, and now I'm back in Manchester. So, I've been around! 3. Why do you write? My academic background is in History, so writing has always been analytical for me in essays and rooted in evidence. I have NEVER thought of myself as creative, I don't have much of an imagination at all. I was much more comfortable analysing other people’s stories than inventing my own. But I have always loved film and television, and over the past year I have found myself wanting to try screenwriting. I have never written a script in my life and I genuinely have no idea what I am doing (honestly, I am CLUELESS beyond belief). It feels slightly chaotic, but also exciting. I would love to write historical screenplays eventually, something that draws on my academic background - I have the screenplay for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (my favourite historical film ever) in my room, and I am so fascinated by how they managed to come up with something SO GOOD. I am also fascinated by the TV industry as a whole, both scripted and unscripted, and one of my biggest goals is to become a TV presenter. But I also want to be involved off-screen too as a script writer/script editor. 4. What’s your favourite story? My favourite historical film is still Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I love the tone of it. It is charming and funny, but you can feel the inevitability building underneath. You know how it ends, yet you still want to stay with the characters. I also absolutely LOVED Tell Me Everything. I was raving about it for ages (seriously Mark, ask Jules, I wouldn't shut up about it) because it felt messy and honest in a way that a lot of teen dramas are not. And I loved that it was based around your life events in some way.
