New here, advice?
Hi all, I’m new to skool so just after opinions and advice I’m working on the idea of educating people about farming, the realities of it straight from the source, Showing people what goes into making food and promoting buying locally from farmers. I’ve also thought of doing live events at key points in the farming season for example at lambing time so people can see what goes on during lambing. Any thoughts/ advice would be really apreaciated as you know better than I do as to what works and doesn’t to grow a strong community

@Florence Garcia this is my first online community, and not really been involved with anything like it before. Besides things like Facebook groups. The main thing that made me think I’d say is especially with the ongoing issues revolving farming in the uk at the moment. There has been a lot of positive support to the farmers, but there has also been a lot of negative attitudes towards it which I think comes from lack of education around the subject. So I thought it would be a good idea to start this and hopefully help people understand it some more. I truly believe that the best food is food thats come from local areas. For example my Christmas dinner this year was made up mostly of foods that either I had produced or other local farmers had. And I think that aspect of our lives has been lost with the increase in large supermarkets importing aswell as fast food becoming more and more popular. Besides the positive impact buying locally from foods has on the farmer and the consumer, for those who care deeply about the planet and risks of pollution, eating something thats traveled only a couple miles to your plate is much better for the planet than something thats come from the other side of the world! I know it’s not possible to eat 100% like this but if I can help encourage people to even have one or two meals that have been produced locally I think it would make a huge difference. I could go on about this forever! But I’ll stop yapping!!
