A pigeon picked a fight with an eagle one afternoon. Just pecking and flapping. Trying to get the eagle to fight. The eagle looked at the pigeon and then lifted. Not in a hurry. Not to prove anything. Just opened her wings and caught the wind the way she was built to. The pigeon followed for a minute. Made it past the rooftops. Made it past the trees. Started getting tired around the power lines. By the time the eagle hit her real altitude, the pigeon was a speck on the ground still flapping her mouth at nobody. And the eagle? She kept rising. Not because she was better than the pigeon. Because she was built different. She lives in a sky the pigeon cannot survive in. The air gets thinner up there. The view gets wider.
