Welcome @Jason Jacobson! Looking forward to learning more from you
Shoutout
I wanted to give a shoutout to @Boone White on this fine Thursday morning. He gave me an hour of his time over a teams call to help me get a takt plan put together. I've been struggling with getting over the hump of creating a visually appealing/properly mapped out schedule and takt seems like the most effective solution. The Old Dawgs are awesome not only because of the learning sessions, field talks, and faith huddles; but also because we have the ability to communicate directly with anyone in this group if we need help. I have no problem asking for help when I need it, and I am thankful for guys like Boone willing to take time out of their busy schedules to lend a hand. Let's keep pushing each other to get better! Hope everyone has a great day and I am extremely grateful to be a part of this group! I'll attach what we worked on today if anyone is interested in what I have going on. Still have to get it completely filled out through the end of the job, but without Boone's help it would have taken me forever to get to this point.
Psychological Stress
Hey Dawgs! I’d like to hear about the experiences in this community about dealing with the psichological stress that comes from trying to do things in line with your values and contrary to how things have historically been done. There is tangible results that show how working with empathy builds momentum, but at the same time it presents a “risk” in terms of control, for people in “upper management” and that “ invisible” tension is taking a toll in my mind. I would appreciate you al’ s nuggets of wisdom from your experience… For reference, I am in an operations management position.

Hey Milo, I’m not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but I’ll attach a chart that shows a good example of my current situation firmly in the “lone champion” column. I’m an outlier in the company. Trying to implement lean tools and principles to improve the way I do things, in hopes that the results show this is scalable to the rest of the company. I’m a semi custom/residential construction manager. My company is the typical mindset “we’ve been doing this for 60 years, why change now?”. I try not to get too caught up in the big picture of a possible stressful situation. Break it down day by day, be thorough with documenting both the wins and the losses. The answer to that will be provided by my results in Q3/Q4 this year for me. Hope this helps!
What do you want from the field Forman?
Calling all old and new dawgs. What are your expectations ( or demands ) from the trade partner foreman/supers I’m looking for specific personal and planning skills we could train on to elevate the pain on our projects. Exclude , know the plans Know Procore . We all know this area is a common topic.

Communication is the biggest thing. There has to be a rapid and reliable communication thread to transfer info. After that I would say make sure installs are left inspection ready and 100% complete. Be ready to complete your full scope with nothing pending. If we fail an inspection for whatever reason, those notes need to be corrected asap so we can keep moving with progress and subsequent trades. A side note would be to tell crews to respect the job as a whole and other trades work (I.e. protecting finished surfaces while working)

@Denver Watters absolutely nailed it
Old Dawg Takt Session
This was great! I have also added some slides directly from a Hoots training session that gives clear step-by-step instructions on how to build a Takt Plan. Let's do a follow-up in 60 days so we can do a bit of a show and tell with our progress. Shout out to Tom, Jason and Boone who, to nobody's surprise, had great input and wisdom to impart on the rest of us. Thanks to Denver for initiating this and bringing a real, concrete challenge to the Old Dawgs.

This was an awesome conversation to just be a fly on the wall. Takt is a little high level for what I’m doing in residential, but the concepts are sound and definitely transferable. Appreciate all you guys really going into a lot of detail.
