Weekly Discussion #35 - Haunted Hotels
Hotels can be some of the most haunted places. They can be old, have a lot of history (both good and bad), and they can be abandoned or functional. It could be a proper hotel or a bed and breakfast. Here is an article from Country Living listing 24 Most Haunted Hotels in America. Have you been to any of these or any haunted hotels? If you have not stayed in a haunted hotel or bed and breakfast before, which one would it be and why? For those outside the USA, do you know of any haunted hotels in your area? ๐—›๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜„ ๐—พ๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ: - Do tragic histories make hauntings more likely, or just more memorable? - Why do hotels seem to attract paranormal reports more than other buildings? - Could hotels act like โ€œenergy reservoirsโ€ because thousands of people pass through them? - Do you think certain room numbers repeatedly become active because of suggestion and expectation? - Could Prohibition-era hotels and speakeasies contribute to paranormal legends because of violence and secrecy? - Are hauntings strengthened when guests continually retell the stories? ๐—œ๐—ณ ๐˜†๐—ผ๐˜‚ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ/๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ฎ ๐—ต๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—น: - Whatโ€™s the best evidence you ever captured? - Are hotels easier or harder to investigate than private homes? - What equipment works best in hotels where electrical interference is everywhere? - How do investigators distinguish paranormal sounds from plumbing, HVAC systems, and neighboring guests? - Would you rather investigate alone or with a team? https://www.countryliving.com/life/travel/g2689/most-haunted-hotels-in-america/

Its almost like you heard what I was up to today. I have been to and investigated The Lizzie Borden House a few times, Stayed at the Shanley Hotel in Napanock NY, a few times as well. Farnsworth I stayed at post Waverly trip and will be going back again later this year for a multi night stay. Every Hotel has its dirty secrets, no hotel is ever immune...even the Stanley. Some places have much more well documented or should I say disclosed information when it comes to the tragic stories. Setting aside the Stanley for the stone tape theory, many hotels could possibly hold onto the energies of the people because of how many that have passed through their halls. I think, that certain rooms could be more active or more renowned because the patrons who have been in there and those that have followed leaving their own imprint. Think about it this way upper floors will tend to have more sightings of spirits who met gravity face to uhhh face. Statistically speaking this is a reality. Does it play into the powers of suggestion, without a doubt. Prohibition Era Hotels have a more eccentric past to them for gambling, ladies of the night, and mysterious disappearances. This definitely leads investigators to these locations because, well, who wouldn't want to know where Jimmy Hoffa actually went. The have a certain anti hero vibe to them. As for investigating, the only real piece of equipment you can rely on without much fail is common sense. If you hear voices, odds are its a living person. Im sure we have all stayed at places and common complaints are the walls are too thin. I wont investigate alone, its a safety thing for me. Depending on location I may wander alone for a brief period of time.
Question for lovely people of the collective
If a paranormal "travel" company existed, what are some things that you would look for them to set up for you? example...semi private groups for seasoned investigators/ paranormal teams, hotel/location packages, a place for teams to chat beforehand to get to know each other...
