Awesome Q/A session!
Thanks for those who attended today. Some really good questions and insights that I feel more people should know about. Here's a summary below: Weekly Mentor Q/A - February 26 VIEW RECORDING - 52 mins (11 mins of highlights) Networking and referrals @ 0:00 Anil discussed his struggles with the traditional job application process, having applied to over 170 roles in the past year with limited success. Brian advised that networking and obtaining referrals are crucial in the current job market, as many companies prioritize internal referrals over external applicants. He provided guidance on how to effectively network on LinkedIn to connect with potential referrers. Optimizing resumes for ATS @ 1:21 Brian reviewed Anil's resume and provided recommendations on formatting and content to make it more ATS-friendly. He highlighted the importance of using the right keywords, formatting the resume concisely, and showcasing relevant achievements and metrics. Brian also demonstrated how to use AI tools like ChatGPT to help optimize resumes. Navigating the recruiting process @ 22:52 Brian provided insights into how recruiters typically review and screen resumes, including the use of ATS systems to quickly filter candidates. He explained that even if a resume is ATS-compliant, it may not guarantee an interview, as recruiters have limited time to review each application. Addressing employment gaps @ 34:09 Anil asked about how to address employment gaps on his resume. Brian advised being transparent but framing it positively, such as using the time for personal growth or travel, rather than sounding defeated. He emphasized the importance of how the candidate presents the gap during interviews.

Will have to watch later! Thanks for the highlights!
For those that feel like giving up, keep going...
It took me over a year to land my first role in tech. It took me about two years to earn a 6-figure salary working for Google. It took me four more years until I decided to start my academy helping lost job seekers find clarity on landing their next role with the same framework I used. Did I think about giving up? ↳Absolutely. Did it feel like I wasn't making progress some days? ↳100%. Why did I keep going? ↳My mission, purpose, and passion for helping others succeed. Was it worth it? ↳Couldn't be more proud. I've helped out over 120+ people with their job search(check my recommendations), grown ~40K followers on our Instagram (@mphacademy), and have 400+ members in MPH Academy to date. If you're thinking about giving up whether on your job search or in life, let's talk. Let's see if one conversation can change your trajectory like it did for me. Keep trying. This is why most people fail at achieving their dreams, they quit, even if it is going good, it is not fast enough for them. Persistence and consistency win every time! It takes resilience and showing up everyday for yourself!
Sometimes all it takes is one person who sees your potential before you do..
When I met the hiring manager who took a chance on me at Youtube, I shook her hand and said, “You changed my life.” Because sometimes, all it takes is one person who sees your potential before you do. The person who looks beyond the years of experience and sees what you could become. The one who brings your name into conversations you’re not even in. The one who pushes for you when others hesitate. They don’t just open doors, they change entire career paths. So to every hiring manager, recruiter, and mentor who has ever seen something in someone before they saw it in themselves - thank you. You may never realize how much of an impact you make. The confidence this has for a person is huge! Especially if they are struggling to find the job, and someone reaches out for them!
