Electric Composted Bedding
Here are a few videos of using electric compost as bedding! It can get very dense, so I like to mix it with fresh shredded cardboard. It’s very important to pay attention to your worm bedding conditions especially when you don’t have drainage holes. I like to go in and fluff it up about once a week. I add moisture if needed, or I’ll add more shredded cardboard if needed. I aim to keep it fluffy and like a wrung out sponge.

That! Is amazing
Fungus Gnat Treatment
This is something I get asked about a lot! Dealing with fungus gnats is so annoying, but if you are consistent with breaking the life cycle, they will go away. Using BTI water as a preventative is a game changer, and when I get lazy with not doing it that's when the outbreaks start happening again haha Stay on top of it and you'll be glad you did! https://youtube.com/shorts/kWnl0ytPQHk?si=VlTezx4ZPj2nJejW

@Cherene Packard thank you 🙏🏼 that is what’s in my Amazon basket! Though I’ll admit to having them for the mosquitos! Here in Spain, you could hitch 2 or 3 to tow your car!!! 😳
What temperature do worms need to be in?
This is a question I get a lot! For red wigglers, they thrive in the 70’s (farenheit). Do not put them in the fridge unless you’re about to use them for fish bait! If you put them outside, watch the temperature swings. Feel free to post questions, contribute to answers, etc. you can pick the category for the question you have! We are all here to learn together! 🪱 🥰

Welcome to Living Soil with Cherene!
I created this community to make worm composting, living soil, and healthier plant systems feel less overwhelming and more organized! Check out the classroom tab for a self paced learning system and utilize this community for learning and connecting! Instead of digging through endless comments and videos, I wanted one place where people could: -learn step by step -ask questions -connect with others -grow healthier plants from the soil up Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments! Tell us: - where you’re from - what worms you have (or want) - whether you’re brand new or experienced - what you’re hoping to learn I’ll keep building this space over time with videos, resources, discussions, and live support. If you’re new to worm composting or living soil, welcome! You’re in the right place! :)
