Hi Katie - hi everyone 🤍 I’m Nancy. I’m a mom of three - two of my kids have autism, IDD andnare non-verbal, so I definitely understand how real and intense this journey can be. I’m here to connect, learn, and hear how others are navigating things - especially the day-to-day reality behind everything. Would really love to hear your stories 🤍 Glad to be here.
ABA workshop and Q&A
I have recently been receiving a lot of questions about ABA and what my thoughts are on it. I know it’s a heated topic in the Autism community and wanted to provide my take. I’ll be dropping an ABA workshop next week and would love to include some of your questions. Put your questions in the comments and I’ll share the workshop with you. It’s so hard for any one to join live so I just plan on recording!

I’ve experienced ABA with my children - it worked for one, but not for the other. I don’t use external rewards myself. I focus on connection and positive verbal encouragement instead. In my opinion, it’s definitely not one-size-fits-all. I’m looking forward to your workshop!

@Katie Lents I agree it really depends on the provider. I’ve been exploring how people look at support a bit differently, especially how it fits into everyday life. It’s something I’ve recently started working on with others. Curious how you approach this.
Introduce yourself♥️♥️
I am thrilled to extend a warm welcome to you in this space. I have longed for the opportunity to reconnect with parents and offer support, education, advocacy, and care as you journey through parenthood with an autistic child. Thank you for joining us, and I trust that this community will provide you with a sense of belonging, community, and solutions to your daily questions

Hi all I’m Nancy 👋🏼 I’m a mom of three children. Two of my children have autism with high support needs and are nonverbal, with a very high sensitivity to sensory input. My daughter Aimely (11) also struggles with severe sleep challenges, and my son Lyon (10) has ADHD. So this is something I live, every single day. Over time, I started noticing something I couldn’t unsee. Everything can be in place - support, appointments, people trying to help - and still, it doesn’t hold in real life. Not because people don’t care, and not because parents aren’t trying hard enough, but because something deeper is missing. That realization is what led me here. I’ve been trying to understand why things feel harder than they should, why everything looks like it should work… but doesn’t, and what it actually takes for things to hold over time. From that, I started building my own way of looking at systems and continuity in real life - not as theory, but as something that needs to work in practice. I also founded Mea Vota Foundation, with the intention of helping families stay together when care becomes too heavy, and preventing situations where separation becomes the only option. I’m still learning, still building, and really grateful to be here, connecting with parents who understand 🤍
