Medicaid requirements?
I am 65, on Medicare as of September 1st; as I had lost my job in February, I was on Medicaid in Indiana. When I went on Medicare, I did the redetermination for Medicaid, and was told that because I had “resources” more than $2000, I did not qualify for that program. I am still unemployed, have no income, and a total asset—EVERYTHING- less than $14,000. (Including Roth IRA) It seems that I am meant to become destitute and homeless before qualifying??? Before turning 65, I was living on the residuals of my former job (more than $14K) and had qualified for Medicaid. I turned 65, have less money, and do not qualify for it?? I did not take my SS or my IEDS because together it was less than $2000/m and that’s because I’m not yet FRA (67) until 2028. *hoping to find work until then…* Thoughts?

@Ed Weir I’m just not clear on if HIS age is used to determine a reduced amount coming to me if he is not at FBA?

@Ed Weir if I suspend my benefits (due to start in October) and wait until I’m 67, then I will get 50% of his benefit amount indexed to his full retirement age? Even though at that time he will be 64? Apologies for asking repeatedly
IEDS Benefits
Hello all - I really need clarification! I fit all the IEDS requirements. I filed for my benefits to start when I turn 65 (9/8 next month); the ex is 62, still working. I understood that, now that he is 62, I would get 50% of his PIA, what it would be, at his Full Retirement Age, based on his earnings record (over 35 years at American Airlines.) However, I have been informed that I will get only 30% of his PIA because he is only 62, that I am not entitled to 50% PIA until he reaches his FRA. Please clarify?!! Do I have any options?
