Day 1: Launching My Telehealth Clinic - Lessons Learned
Today was my official launch date of JetSet Health. My mom was my first patient so I could get a hang of my EMR and how everything works. I highly recommend doing a trial run with a friend or family member so you can see how everything flows on their end (and yours too!) before you start seeing real patients. I obviously haven't been in business that long, but I've been preparing to launch for about 8 weeks since I knew my locums contract ended this week. I have experience in business (nursing education, lead generation - SaaS) outside of being a nurse practitioner, so have applied some of my general business knowledge to launching my telehealth clinic. Don't put off starting your clinic, it will take time to get things going in the beginning. Here's a rundown of what I've done in the last couple months: - Got an additional NP license in a FPA state, since my current state is restricted. - Chose my specialty and what I wanted (and don't want) to do - Landed on a business name and corresponding domain for my website - Created my email account and signature - Had a simple logo created on Fiverr - Created a simple WP website (1 page) and blog - Set up autoblogging systems so my blog can start bringing in SEO traffic in 3-6 months (I have 63 published as of today) - Created local landing pages for more SEO traffic focusing on specific keywords and the local service area I'm licensed in (have 1000 pages published) - Set up my Google Analytics and Google Search Console to track SEO efforts - Trialed multiple EMR systems before landing on the one I decided to go with (based on price as a newbie, features, and ease of use) - Priced out liability insurance and purchased a policy - Created intake and charting forms for my EMR - Read Chris' book to solidify my telehealth practice model - Created a list of businesses (with contact information) I could contact as referral partners (your niche is key here and makes things 10 times easier) - Created flyers for the above business types if they'd like to refer pts to me - Created a FB and Google My Business page - Loaded up posts in my social media scheduler starting today and through the month of January - Created a "burner" email address for my manual outreach

@Chris Woods no updates except for tightening up my forms. I haven't started any aggressive marketing due to the holiday and the fact I'm still in the clinic right now (starting emails Monday). I'll do some FB group posts tomorrow on some local pages and repost to my personal page for friends and family. Contemplating what ads look like as far as cost per day? I know my email outreach and SEO will take awhile to gain traction, yet I don't want to burn cash on ads if it needs a huge budget.

@Mike Ben Thanks so much! Still working out a few kinks, but ready for my journey!

Man, I am FIRED UP right now. We’ve had a bunch of new folks join in the last few hours and I just want to say - you’re in the right place. Quick housekeeping: You might notice the daily revenue screenshots I post look a little wonky sometimes. That’s because stripe runs on a different timezone or something weird! so the “daily” numbers don’t always line up perfectly. Don’t let that confuse you - I’ll keep posting them because I want you to see what’s actually possible with a telemedicine side hustle. Today we’re sitting at $56.99 so far (it’s early!) with $12,239.92 ready to pay out on January 2nd. This isn’t flex - this is PROOF. Proof that you can build something outside the traditional healthcare grind. Here’s what I need from YOU: Don’t be a lurker! Seriously. This community only works if we’re actually talking to each other. Drop into the Welcome & Introductions section and tell us: ∙ Where are you in your NP/PA journey? ∙ What’s making you curious about telemedicine? ∙ What’s the ONE thing holding you back right now? I read every single post. I respond. And I genuinely want to help you get where I am - or further. The ebook is waiting for you in the Resources tab. Grab it. Read it. Then come back with questions. Let’s build something together. -Chris

How long did it take you to get up to this income?

@Chris Woods Very cool! How many states are you licensed in and where do the majority of your patients come from? I'm thinking about applying for Kansas since the application looks straightforward. Lastly, do you have a DEA in each state? I'm thinking about letting mine go since I haven't used it in 3 years as a locums (agency made me pay for it, but no contract position allows me to use it). Not seeing too much benefit in having it with my telehealth business. It seems like it would cause a lot more headaches (my EMR charges $399 to set up for controlled substance prescribing, I need an address for each state I'm in, more regulations to jump through, people asking for refills on their hydrocodone, lol).

Daily Check-In - December 25th
Merry Christmas! 🎄 Today’s numbers: ∙ Gross: $147.99 (3 payments) ∙ MTD up 64.5% ($9,199 vs $5,590 last month) Even on Christmas, the text-based telemedicine model keeps working. While everyone else is closed, we’re still serving patients who need care. Grateful for the growth and the opportunity to serve. Now back to family time!
