Nuclear Outlook
Are there any reports, current documents, and reports related to the nuclear sector and SMR that you can recommend, as well as a synthesis of the nuclear situation within WEO 2025?
Report on the dynamics of the European diesel price
I've just uploaded a new energy report in the Classroom section (6.2) on recent developments in commodity markets, specifically on European diesel prices and the dramatic price movements we've seen in recent weeks. The report includes price charts and detailed analysis suitable for understanding both the immediate drivers and longer-term structural vulnerabilities in refined product markets. If you know of any lesser-known sites that publish good reports, please share them. For example, I found this site: https://www.cedigaz.org

@Ronan Murphy Generally energy sector but commodities could be better.
Quant Pathway
At this stage in my career, there are certain skills I need to learn and develop quickly. Since I want to move into the Quant department, I'll need to work primarily on forecasting electricity markets and understand the dynamics of these markets. Our Quant department typically focuses on demand forecasting, generation forecasting, and price forecasting. Your courses in the Classroom section cover a variety of areas, and I appreciate for all of them. However, since I need to progress quickly in these areas, do you have any alternative pathway you can recommend?

@Michael Johnson I actually agree with you. I think it's important to keep up with the new market dynamics, but I've also considered approaching energy holistically, like an energy derivatives trader. What do you think?

@Ronan Murphy I would really like to work in this field if there is a job opportunity, but there are almost no companies focused on commodity trading in Turkey, and I think I haven't yet been able to attract the attention of companies in Europe where I can work remotely. However, I want to move forward with energy derivatives, and I think this could offer me a broader spectrum. What do you think?
Forward Contracts for Oil Trading - Python code & books
Below is the Python code for a Forward Contract n Python. The code is in PDF format (for copy paste)t and in ipynb form. This code isfor figuring out how much an oil trade will cost. You give it two basic pieces of information: the price of one barrel of oil and how many barrels you want to buy. Then you can add extra costs like shipping fees, insurance, or storage. The code also lets you apply discounts (if you're buying a lot), add taxes, include broker fees, and even convert the final price to a different currency. It calculates everything step-by-step and shows you each cost as it goes, then gives you the final total price for your oil purchase.
