Instagram 🤨
A midlife woman I know just posted on Threads about how she’s so sick of trying on Instagram and getting nowhere. I posted that I think Instagram is a big old waste of time (especially for attracting new people). The number of replies trying to get her to keep on wasting her time was very high. Now I know most of them are probably trying to sell her something Instagram related. But why are so many digging their heels in when it comes to Instagram? And are we, as midlife women less willing to let our lives be dictated by a social media app. Hence we are here instead. Maybe it’s also a generational thing because we remember what life was like before we were dictated to by algorithms. Anyway. I just thought it was interesting and wanted to see what you all think.

@Lindsay MacGregor I think that's the thing - it's unmatched for visual content I think.

Pondering doing this....
Which social channel do you use to drive traffic to your Skool? 🚗
So, we've had our Skool group going for 3-4 months now and growing steadily due to heaps of summit and bundle appearances 😄. We know we need to get a wiggle on with sorting out our social media activity. It's kinda taken a back seat amongst all the app development and Skool establishment. What I'd love to know is which channels you use to drive traffic to your own communities. I'm sure many of you use more than one (and Skool's polling tool doesn't let us choose more than one option) so just pick whichever one is most successful for you. Do let me know in the comments why you prefer your particular option and why it works so well for you. I have my own preferences going into this choice, but I wanted to get a really unbiased view from you all, and to see if there were angles I had not considered or maybe ignored. Thank you!

@Shelly Phillips Thanks Shelly - maybe I should have put that under the 'none' category. I'll see if I can edit it! - Ah, darn it, you can't edit a poll. But that's a good shout - I've been posting a lot in other groups and I think it's helping.

So a real mixed bag appearing! My husband (runs the skool with me) is going to manage Insta, which we intend to use to showcase his AI image gen work. I thought I would use Linked In as I've got over 1000 connections but I actually really dislike the platform. So I've been pondering YT but am concerned how much work it may be, or Substack because I've enjoyed writing emails and posts and wonder if that could extend to articles. However I am not sure our subject matter transfers well to a mainly written word format. I think we will kick off with Insta soon and see how we go. I definitely want to keep the number of channels down rather than spread ourselves too thinly. Thanks for all your comments. I think there's more which could be discussed on this!

@Katy Simpson Although it seems a simple thing to set up a community, I think to do it well does take time and consideration so well done to you! It's like we start building the cafe / house / analogy of your choice, and then invite people and hope they invite people, love the coffee, chat, learnings.....

@Amy Hardie that's brilliant Amy. When you've got an existing lead magnet bundles seem like a no brainer.
Woohoo!
Celebrating reaching level 5!! 🎉 A friend of mine just wrote a post on Facebook and it really got me thinking. She is a multi passionate entrepreneur like I am and she was feeling “in a funk” because she felt scattered and didn’t know what to focus on. She worked with a coach and went for the one thing that was bringing her most joy right now and I totally know that feeling of being multi passionate/multi talented and spreading yourself thin and feeling confused … and broke! She said that feels a sense of peace and purpose now. I’ve been on a journey to find out the one thing truly lights me up and I feel like I’m getting there, and in that journey I have been doubling down on Skool through Brenda’s trainings. So, I’m feeling accomplished having focussed my energy and have got to level 5 so far!
Woohoo!
