Letโ€™s talk about building community with your readers. ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ“š
One of the most meaningful (and often overlooked) parts of being an author isnโ€™t just selling books. . . itโ€™s building connection. Readers who feel seen and valued donโ€™t just read one book, they stick around! Building community doesnโ€™t have to be complicated or overwhelming. It can start small: - Replying to reader emails or DMs - Asking questions in your newsletter - Sharing behind-the-scenes moments of your writing life - Creating a space (like a Facebook group, Discord, or newsletter replies) where readers can interact with you and each other Community grows through consistency and genuine care, not perfection or constant selling. ๐Ÿ‘‰ How do you currently connect with your readers? Or if youโ€™re just starting out, whatโ€™s one way youโ€™d like to build more connection?

What do you do when: readers don't email you or DM you? (I would totally answer if they did, they just don't). What if you have an awkward personality IRL (which is kinda how/why you started writing?) Or you don't like to talk about your writing habits or your books or your characters until the book is actually done because it zaps your enthusiam to finish? Right now I might interact in reader groups and I will friend readers on my FB profile page but otherwise that's it. Can you still build a readership if you're not "on" and sharing what's in your head? I haven't tried asking questions in the newsletter, so I can try that.

@Lorna Bailey I'm on social media a LOT (actually more than is healthy for me, honestly)....but I'm there. I send my newsletter once a month. I don't do more than that because I don't release all that often and would end up filling it with recommendations.
