Allah is the Creator of everything, including what we perceive as good and evil. However, there is an important distinction in how “good” and “evil” are attributed to Allah. Good (khayr) is directly attributed to Allah. Evil (sharr) also exists only by Allah’s creation, knowledge, and permission, but Allah does not love, approve of, or command evil. Evil can occur as a test, consequence of human choices, or part of a greater wisdom that we may not fully understand.
