How was your Writing Week?
Check in and let us know how you did this week. Did you: - Spend any time writing this week? - Clarify your vision for your book? - Make any progress - even a smidge? Rome wasn't built in a day - but it also wasn't built by procrastinating. 📕 Each book can feel like building Rome. 📚 👉 What are your goals for next week? Drop it in the comments!

I had a fair week, esp. considering I worked remotely. Three stories through final edit; two more ready to polish after alpha- and beta-reads by AI. Two stories up to Kindle; two more inched closer. I started my process for two books during Book in a Month (on Story Hackers AI). And I finished a bunch of transcriptions on a fictional worlds database....

@Shawn Helgerson AutoCrit, for the most part. I'm also experimenting w/ a vibe-coded writing system, and it has alpha- and beta-readers.
Booked my First Podcast Interview!
I'm gaining momentum! I booked my first podcast interview. I used to host podcasts, but I knew it wasn't my real calling. I knew I needed to be writing, and if I were going to be on a podcast, it would be as a guest. So that's been the dream. And it's happening! The podcast is called Un-holier Than Thou Podcast. She talks about her journey of deconstructing her Christian faith. We're recording it on Wednesday the 6th, but I don't know her production schedule. I'll keep you posted. A few moments ago, I sent her a podcast host cheat sheet. In it, I included a synopsis of the book, some conversation anchors, places where her listeners can reach me. I also sent her a pdf copy of the book. I attached copies of the documents I sent so you can see how I set it up.

Writing at the Gym
Do you ever go to the gym and really push yourself? Maybe you’re lifting weights and you’ve got one more set. Or you’re on the treadmill and there’s half a mile left. There’s a moment where I pause, tighten my resolve, take a breath, and jump back into the exercise. Writing feels a lot like that to me. Last year I wrote four books in one big push. By the end of it, my brain felt completely fried, so the past few months have mostly been recovery. But lately I’ve started to feel that same sensation again. The breath before the next set. Not a frantic sprint. Just that quiet moment where I know it’s time to step back up to the bar. For me, the smaller pieces along the way, essays, posts, conversations, are like the lighter sets that keep the muscles warm between the heavy lifts. So I’m curious where you are right now - where are you in your writing gym? Are you in the middle of a heavy push? Catching your breath between sets? Or taking a recovery day before the next one? Or…are you looking at your running shoes and gym membership and thinking, “Gosh, I need to get back in there”?

I go to the gym. Not so much to push, these days. Back when I was prepping to run Marathons and longer, I pushed. Hard. Often for a year or more at a time. But that's too grueling these days. Besides, PJ won't let me run the long'uns anymore. Half-marathon and shorter....
