Let's give Mirijam a big warm welcome! 🎉
We're so pleased you're here, @Mirijam Pasquini — we hope you settle in quickly and feel right at home. A couple of things to get you started: Say hello — introduce yourself in the community: Introduce Yourself Find your feet — when you're ready, head to the beginner module I've put together especially for new machine knitters: Begin Your Machine Knitting Journey And you won't be on your own — there are plenty of other newbie members in MkH who are right there alongside you. 🧶 You'll also find a Start Here section in the Classroom if you'd like to get the lay of the land first — and if you ever have a question, there's a dedicated questions category in the community posts. Clear instructions on how to post are in the Start Here module, so you're never left guessing.

@Claire Amelia thanks
Technical Question About Lace Knitting
❓What am I doing wrong? I’m working on a Brother KH-910 knitting machine using a foil pattern for a lace pattern. The machine knits the initial stitches perfectly until I program in the pattern. The foil runs to the start of the pattern, and I knit 2 rows with the knitting carriage. That works without any problems, but then the lace pattern carriage follows, and the foil doesn’t move any further. It selects the correct needles, but the foil doesn’t advance any rows. However, the foil feed is working; otherwise, it wouldn’t pull the foil in. I also make sure to press the RR button before starting, so that the pattern is set to the beginning. But the problem persists. Does anyone have any advice? 🤔🤷🏻‍♀️

@Joy Green That's perfectly fine. It's the effort that counts, and I'm very grateful to you for that.

Two more Makers have joined the Level 4 club — Finding My Pattern! 🎉
Huge congratulations to @Auli Takala and @Joy Green, who've just levelled up — joining @Claire Amelia , who's been flying the flag at Level 4 for a while now (and no doubt cheering you both on as you caught up!). Getting here isn't about ticking a box. It's about showing up consistently — sharing your work, asking the questions, helping a fellow Maker when they're stuck, and just being genuinely part of this community. That's exactly what the three of you have been doing, and it hasn't gone unnoticed. Auli and Joy, welcome to the Level 4 Club. Claire, thank you for being such a steady presence while you waited for company! 😄 If you're newer here and wondering what it takes to climb — it really is this simple: turn up, be generous with what you know, keep knitting, keep asking. That's the whole secret. Congratulations to all three of you 🧶 Jan x

Mistakes - Every maker makes these

Machine knitting has a beautiful learning curve — and every snag, dropped stitch, or tension mystery is actually moving you forward. Even the most experienced makers still hit the occasional head-scratcher. That's not failure. That's the process. Whether you're just starting out, returning after a break, or already knitting regularly — there are common mistakes that catch almost everyone out at some point. Some show up early, others only appear as your skills grow. But they're all solvable, and none of them mean you're doing it wrong. Over the coming weeks I'll be sharing a series of '𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 — 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗙𝗶𝘅' posts covering the most frequent challenges machine knitters face — one problem at a time, nice and steady. No overwhelm, no judgement. Just straightforward help when you need it. 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿. 🧶 💬 𝘐'𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘺𝘰𝘶 — 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵? 🥵It's currently 39 degrees in the shade, and everything feels sticky because the humidity is so high.
