@Laura Seay wow it looks like you got a lot of snow. We had one snow day in February and then it melted by the evening 🥲

For me it’s color matching that is the most difficult especially when needle painting. Also undoing knots! The easiest is designing it.
Introduction
Hello from New Jersey where we are awaiting a blizzard. I have never tried stumpwork but I did buy a stumpwork kit from RSN last year. If only I knew where I stashed it… 😁 I kind of did embroidery off and on when making things from felt, one of my other hobbies. Then I started doing embroidery for real. I did cross stitch in the early 1990s and I am trying to get back to it. I also sew - I prefer making quilted items rather than garments. Nice to meet you! (Some samples of my work.)

Welcome and thank you for joining! I love the text and the stitching in the bird. It looks like you have experience using felt which is good! It’s the main fabric I’m using in my work. I’m looking forward to starting this community and lessons with you.

Thank you for joining. I’m so excited to have you here. I’m building my first lesson so in the meantime share your work in the general discussion and introduce yourself. I’ll message when it’s ready.

Before and after (a few years later)
My first go at stump embroidery had a lot of mistakes. First I chose the wrong color felt as a base. I also didn’t understand that the edges of the felt should be slightly exposed. I thought variegated sashiko thread would look good for the leaf, and I definitely didn’t understand how the black part of the pansy looks in real life. Fast forward to a few years later and loads of flower making later, I had it down pretty well. Do you have Before and After photos? Feel free to share in the group.
