Monday Win - Lundi Victoire
Share a recent win regarding your French learning journey. Example : You watched a French movie with French subtitles, you booked a class with a French teacher online, you have learned new words, you have participated to a conversation in French,... For my Portuguese learning, I will share this: I have spoken a few words with my Brazilian friend and she helped me with my pronunciation. 😁 🇧🇷 Let's encourage each other for our little steps forward 🎉

I have recorded a lesson about Family members in French - I had no idea that beau-père is both father-in-law AND stepfather, it works for the stepmother too, but not for stepbrother 🤔 So I've learnt some nuances in order to be able to present them . How's your Portuguese going in general?

@Aurelie Delahalle I know it's not Brazilian, but I still think you'll like this one if you like to listen to something :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75iqd2yJH6w
Duolingo Yay or Nay ?
I'm starting my Portuguese learning journey and I'm going for Duolingo besides listening to music and speaking with my friend. I'm already bored of the repetition but I have to say : the vocabulary sticks in my brain ! What is your opinion ? Have you used Duolingo for your French learning ?

@Aurelie Delahalle I have some videos I had recorded for someone in my classroom, but shortly - it had a vast library of content with pinpointed text, can generate audio to what you paste there, tracks your progress etc, but it had been tested against many other apps and won (some 2-3 years ago, so things may have changed) - built in spaced repetition and all vocabulary is mine. It has many languages, I'm learning French 😄

⚠️ “Anniversary” ≠ “Anniversaire” En anglais, “anniversary” = une date importante qu’on célèbre chaque année 👉 wedding anniversary, work anniversary… 🇺🇸 Today, I’m celebrating 12 years of marriage with my husband 💛 Perfect moment to talk about a sneaky English/French trap… ⚠️ “Anniversary” ≠ “Anniversaire” In English, “anniversary” = a date you celebrate every year 👉 wedding anniversary, work anniversary… In French, “anniversaire” = your birthday 🎂 So:💍 “12th wedding anniversary” = 12 years of marriage 🎉 “mon anniversaire” = my birthday Small detail… big difference 😉 Did you know this one? Picture 2014 VS 2026 💙

C’est le 3 mai ? Nous nous sommes également mariés en 2014 😃 Mais en juin 🙂 Bon 12 ans de marriage! (So just double checking : anniversaire de marriage n’est pas correct ?)
