Poppies in watercolour
It’s been sometime since I shared my art activity last time. I have been caught in the admin works and my mind has been disturbed by all the ads and articles on social media about how to make money with art business, I felt left behind by reading those. With my mind disturbed it was hard to concentrate on creating my own artworks, I don’t want to be a factory in order to sell quantity over quality… Anyway there must be some compromise to continue creating artworks, I thought I should resume watercolour painting for change. In the town where I live, the townhall organize a street market every first Sunday of the month. Next market will be on May 3 so ot’s a good excuse to make postcard size paintings. After so many years of absence, some paint tubes have completely become hard so I had to throw away. Anyway here I show some of the cards I have done. They look clumsy but I enjoyed the nright red colour on the paper. I hope you all are keeping well and enjoying art! Midori

Oil pastel trial - contre-jour
I am still experimenting the oil pastels, how they behave, how they influence on my style, what subject is more suitable… etc., etc… So far, as far as the subject is concerned, I think this medium responds well with animal paintings. I’ve been enjoying creating cats portraits with oil pastels, using mainly Pentel pastels with some other makes to compliment the consistency and richness of the colour. Here I attached my YouTube video, this time I challenge ā€œcontre-jourā€, that is a cat sitting in a room against gentle light from her behind. Her face is in just a subtle soft shadow that requires many different shades of gray in muted tone. Many oil pastel artists use strong colours but my personal taste is more quiet. Anyway it’s fun to challenge different tasks, so I hope you are also enjoying painting! https://youtube.com/shorts/AsBQBWWoiRU?is=QnWZvwm5MrthrqBc
