Hear the word of the Lord, you Israelites, because the Lord has a charge to bring against you who live in the land: “There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. 2 There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. 3 Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea are swept away. Almost every day I read something about climate change it reminds me of how much of an impact we have on the world. What we do has ripple effects. Our thoughts, words, and actions affect the people we know and love, and everything around us. Quantum physicist describe this interdependence as "entanglement." Entanglement is found throughout the Bible. We are stewards of the word and have a responsibility to reflect God's loving image into creation. If, however, we do not act responsible as stewards, "the land mourns." Animals, birds, fish and every living thing suffers because of human greed, violence, and corruption. Think of wars. What happens to the land? Think of human greed. How does this affect natural disasters? It is therefore incredibly important that we monitor what we think, which forms our mindset: the way we see an interact with the world. We are created to bring heaven, not hell to earth. We have to think about how we engage with the world in a loving, productive way.
