We talk a lot about saving souls. But not nearly enough about tending to them. Your soul is your mind, your will, and your emotions. It is the seat of how you process everything that happens to you. It is where your beliefs live, where your wounds settle, where your agreements form, and where your patterns are built. For a lot of believers, the soul has been carrying weight for years that was never meant to be permanent. Trauma that never got processed. Grief that got buried under busyness. Offense that hardened slowly into walls. Wounds that got covered with scripture before they ever got truly healed. And then we wonder why we are tired. Why we keep hitting the same ceiling. Why we can preach freedom and still not feel fully free ourselves. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” The prosperity of your soul is not a side issue. It is directly connected to the prosperity of every other area of your life. A wounded soul produces wounded relationships. A striving soul produces striving patterns. A soul that has never learned to receive love will sabotage it every time it gets close. You cannot outperform the condition of your inner world. Soul stewardship is not self-indulgence. It is obedience. It is taking seriously what God entrusted to you when He placed eternity inside a human frame. It means slowing down enough to ask what you are actually carrying. It means being honest about what has shaped you and whether that shaping aligns with truth. It means doing the interior work that produces lasting exterior fruit. You were not just saved to survive. You were saved to be whole. And wholeness is not a destination you arrive at. It is a way of living you choose to walk in every single day. Natalie Breckenridge 🤎
