5, 4, 3, 2, 1…Go!
What are you stuck on today? Having a shower? Putting that load of washing away? Lifting clothes off the bathroom floor? Whatever it is, I want you to take a moment now and countdown from 5. When you get to 1, get up immediately, no excuses…do that one thing. Just that one thing. This closes a loop that has been running in the back of your mind, taking up space and energy. Tell me how you feel afterwards 😁
@Eva Lewis the resistance is what stalls us most. The countdown triggers your brain into action (like getting ready to start a race when you were a kid) and gamifies it. Now there’s a loop closed for you! Congrats!

@Bybit Areketa don't worry about being behind. Take it at your own pace :)
Welcome Founding Cohort!
If you’re reading this, you’re part of the founding cohort of the Household Operating System. I really appreciate you saying yes to this at such an early, slightly scrappy stage. This space exists because everyday life was taking far more effort than it should, not in a dramatic way, just a constant background drain. I needed something that worked on ordinary weeks, with ADHD, kids, work, low energy, and interruptions built in. What you’ll see here is the result of that thinking. Over the next 12 weeks, we’ll move through the system one piece at a time. It’s structured, but it’s not intense. The aim isn’t to overhaul your life, it’s to reduce mental load by making fewer decisions and letting systems do more of the work. As founding members, you’re not here to perform or “get it right”. You’re here to use this honestly and tell me what actually helps, what doesn’t land, and where things feel unclear or heavy. Your feedback will shape what this becomes. A few quick things to know: - New modules unlock weekly — there’s no need to rush ahead - Weekly chats are there for support and normalising, not accountability or comparison - Lurking is fine. Short posts are perfect. No pressure to overshare - This is a calm, practical space — we’re not fixing each other here Most of all, thank you for trusting me with your time and attention. That’s not something I take lightly. When you’re ready, feel free to introduce yourself in a few lines, or not. You belong here either way. Michelle x

@Colleen Burns fixating on the same room has been a big one for me. Usually the one that I can see the most progress in the quickest and ignoring the ones that actually need sorting properly (hobbying). One of the first things you’ll learn in the course is how to decide what’s good enough as opposed to trying to make everything perfect and picking up some tips and hacks to make it more automatic rather than something you have to think about constantly
Utility Room Reset
Taking my utility room from disaster zone to 'good enough' in less than an hour with tips on: - eco-friendly laundry - containers - finding a home for everything
Utility Room Reset
@Bybit Areketa the wonders of video lol. To be fair, it wasn’t overly hard, getting started was the worst bit!
Weekly Reset
Its Sunday which is usually the day I do my weekly reset (other days might work better for you). I have struggled to find a balance between making everything PERFECT, and enjoying time off with my family so over time, this has been distilled down so that I spend no more than 3 hours max (and usually much less!) just getting the house in a 'good enough' order for the week starting tomorrow. Below is my weekly reset plan (broken into stages). You can pick and choose, or follow along exactly. I'd love to know what works for you and what doesn't. Rules: - No deep cleaning. - No organising drawers. - No starting projects you can’t finish. - Phone away unless used as a timer or for music. You’re aiming for visible order and mental relief. Not a full clean! First things first, clear the noise! Kitchen reset (30 mins): Do this in order: - Empty dishwasher / drain rack - Load everything dirty (even if it’s not “full”) - Wipe only surfaces you touch (worktops, sink, hob) - Take rubbish + recycling out Stop when it looks calm, not perfect. A reset kitchen quietly removes background stress for the rest of the day. 2. One laundry action (15 mins) Pick one: - Put a load on - Fold what’s already dry - Strip beds and start wash One action only. 3. Quick floor sweep (15 mins) - High-traffic areas only - No moving furniture - No getting on hands and knees This is about sensory calm. Clean floors change how a house feels instantly. 4. Living area reset (25 mins) Set a timer. - Remove anything that doesn’t belong there and dump it in a basket - Straighten cushions - Clear surfaces Do not deal with that basket yet! 5. Bedroom reset (20 mins) This is about tonight, not Instagram. - Make the bed - Clear bedside tables - Put tomorrow’s clothes out (even roughly) This makes tonight more restful and tomorrow calmer. 6. Deal with the “dump basket” (15 mins) Now you return things: - If it takes under 30 seconds → do it - If not → park it in a single “to deal with” spot

@Eva Lewis brilliant well done! Sometimes just starting is the hard part until you get into a rhythm

@Bybit Areketa amazing! Hopefully tomorrow will feel a bit lighter. Take five mins to sit with a cuppa and let the reset sink in :)
Money & Time Saver: Vacuum Sealing Salmon
Food waste is a big deal in our house. If you're like me, you regularly shop for food then either it doesn't scratch the dopamine itch, or you've forgotten its there. Food wasted = money waster. I grabbed a bargain in Tesco before Christmas, two sides of salmon for under £14 (about 10 fillets per side so 20 portions of salmon). Absolute bargain at 70p per portion! I froze them to deal with later and today, I've prepped and vacuum-sealed them which is four healthy dinners in the freezer ready for another day. Highlights: Very quick and easy, took about 10 minutes from start to finish. Healthy but cost-effective. Challenges: Slicing frozen salmon was hard and hazardous! Now that the vacuum sealer is here, I'll do it on the day I buy it rather than freezing it first.
