The Secret to Leveling Up: How Coaches Practice!
If you follow me on social media, you know I share more match footage than almost anyone. I don’t do this to be a "social media hero" or to clutter your feed. I do it because I am a student of your game. I spend hours analyzing matches from every level—from Pros to Beginners—to practice the art of coaching. By watching where mistakes happen in real-time, I develop the game plans that help my students "level up" faster. The "B-Level" Breakthrough While I love watching the Pros, I actually learn the most from watching B and C-level players. This is where the real coaching happens. Most intermediate players are what I call "Scramble Players." They love the game, but they stay stuck at the same level year after year. They often think they need a better racquet, different string tension, or a faster ball to get better. The truth? It’s not the gear. It’s the fundamentals. Stop Playing Checkers in a Game of Chess I see it in every match I analyze: talented players becoming their own worst enemies through poor shot selection and defense. • Sloppy drive serves that give away the advantage. • Lazy lobs that set the opponent up for a kill. • Forcing a kill shot from 38 feet away while the opponent is waiting at the service box. • Hitting overhand when a ceiling ball would save the rally. These are "checker moves" in a game that is actually chess. Without an outside eye to analyze these habits, most players hit a ceiling they can’t break through on their own. You Have a Great Player Inside You I have dedicated my career to the beginner and intermediate levels because I believe there is a fundamentally great racquetball player in everyone. You don't need a new racquet; you need a reprogramming of your fundamentals. At JK’s Racquetball Academy, we are 100% dedicated to helping you break that ceiling. Through smart shot selection, muscle memory practice, and honest analysis, we turn "scramblers" into tacticians. Don't just play harder—play smarter. Let’s look at your game together and turn your racquetball dreams into your reality on the court.
