Yeah for me when I first started, before I changed anything, I used MyFitnessPal just to track my food intake, all of it, even a snack here or there and drinks that had calories. In doing so, I was able to see where my baseline was - if I weren't to change anything here's where I would be at on my calorie intake everyday. Then I slowly started making micro changes - with several prior attempts, I tried to change too many things at once and failed each time only a short time after the big changes. So, first I cut out drink with calories, then cut the snack or replaced with something with lower calorie, and so forth. Even fast food - instead of trying to make this big commitment to not ever eat it and do all the meal prep etc or find healthy solutions on the go, I started getting a whopper jr instead of a whooper. Anywho, for sure need to track before it all gets familiar and then the "diet" turns into a "lifestyle" and you don't have to continue tracking if you don't want to cause you are already familiar with it all.
