Osage long bow
Have started the journey to be a bowyer. Am hand making an Osage long bow from a stave. My 87 year old buddy is teaching me how to do it. I’m ready to put a string on it and start tillering. It’s 64” long. I’ve been a deer hunter for 40 years.

21 yards on the deer, 18 yrds on the pig. Bear Grizzly 55lb (deer), Kodiak Magnum on the pig, elevated shot from 12 ft high. Couldn't resist some follow on shots with the K.Mag. Everything felt too sweet.

My blood trailers
Had a successful hunt this morning. High angle shot, arrow did not pass through so there wasn't a good blood trail. Put my trackers on her and they made short work of it. Deer jumped in a pond which made it tricky for the dogs but they didn't give up and figured it out.

Yes, I've met some scorn, but these are usually ppl who shoot deer with a heavy rifle from 150 yards. Half the meat is ripped apart by shrapnel. In hunting, we owe it to the deer to use every resource for recovery. Nothing worse than killing an animal and it goes to waste. This deer only went 35 yards and I could have found it without the dogs. But trackers need to stay tuned up for those times you really need them.
One shot.....well maybe 2 or 3 more...
I would never take a quartering to shot in the wild, but my target got turned when I was mowing. That first shot just felt sooooo good, I had a fling a few more down range. You ever had one of them days?

I've been shooting recurves for 60 years (wow, that sounds old) but it has always been my happy place to shoot my traditional gear.
